PS3 Incorrect aspect ratio on output lower than 720p.

Hello! I'm sorry in advance if this happens to be an obvious question, but i can't say i'm much familiar with the ins and outs of how these things work, so i thought i might give it a go and ask here.

So, here's the thing: I have a FAT PS3 model running HFW 4.86 connected to a widescreen CRT via S-Video with a 576i output and set to 16:9 aspect ratio, and would like it to stay that way.

Apart from games, i like to use it also as a media center. While most of the games and other apps like Netflix are shown correctly in widescreen as they should be, YouTube seems to be not no matter what i try. I gave it a go to edit PARAM.SFO file and disable all of the 4:3 options it could have, leaving only the 576i option in widescreen, but that gave me no effect whatsoever, the still shows incorrectly on a widescreen TV. Is there any possible way to fix this? Maybe edit something inside the app itself or something? Could someone give me a hand with this, please? As with the way it's currently outputting, it's very hard to watch YouTube videos like this, and i don't know any YouTube alternatives to use with HFW either.

Thanks in advance!!!

I also test YouTube, but instead of 576i I choose 576p:

I tried 16:9 and 4:3 in PS3 Video output setting, but it doesn't change anything in YouTube.
As you I have these black borders.
Everything is fine with res 720p or higher.
Nowhere in YouTube app there is an option to change aspect ratio.

In some TVs there should be an additional option to change aspect ratio (16:9 pan scan), did you try to look for it,
or your TV does not have this option?

Alright, now thanks to you i'm sure it is because it's not running through HD resolution. I couldn't check the 576p signal since my PS3 is connected through RGB scart there, so i wasn't sure whether it's the interlaced resolution or not.

So, the solution would probably either modify something in the app itself so it would correctly output the image in 16:9 aspect ration on resolutions lower than 720p, or if it's possible, have something done in the XMB so it could output a 720p downscale to 576i.

So, i think it's worth mentioning that not only Apps are affected by this problem, but some games are also too! In my experience Killzone HD and Silent Hil 2 + 3 HD, and even all PSP Remasters are also outputting incorrectly in the same stretched widescreen, black bars top and bottom. Still no idea how to deal with this other than finding a way to downscale 720p, but hopefully there is a fix for this.
