That's a good idea, I think it should be possible. If you get all the game data files, make a pkg with the contentid being the folder you want them to install to, it should work.there are some converted games on cfw2ofw compatibility list that requires you to install the Mandatory Game Install first before DTU it on PS3 (look for saint rows 2), I wonder if its possible to do this on our HAN ps3 without doing the really long process.
It also says that it is not necessary to do it on HAN. Does it not work regularly?
Have you tried just packing everything from RPCS3 game data install into a pkg with same content ID as folder name on RPCS3, In PARAM.SFO set to GD category (game data), and set version number to the same as latest update. It should work.well it works on HAN, but still, you need to perform a game data install and DTU for it to work unfortunately.
this is why, I was asking if its possible for that "game data install" that is generated on RPCS3 turn those game data install files into pkg and install it on ps3 with HAN.
sure I can probably do this with injection method or DTU but well, reinstalling 900gb worth of things is not fun. not to mention that ETA of backing up the entire disk is just too long 8hours.

update: I think I found the issue, the Game Data requires to be in different directory in this case something like BCUS22222_INSTALLDATA, as we know, pkg files only install on specific directory what param.sfo titleid is which is something like BCUS22222 making the game data somewhat installed on wrong directory. So without the _INSTALLDATA on the installation directory I cant make this work.
I guess this is a deadlock?
If you're using psn_package_npdrm to create the PKG files, you can use the InstallDirectory parameter in package.conf to change the installation directory.
Also, if you're using RPCS3 to generate the installation data, be aware that the PARAM.SFO files it creates appear as corrupted files on an actual PS3. Don't know why that is, but figured I'd mention it to save you the trouble.
thanks, ill look for this.
for the param.sfo in rpcs3, how do I know if its corrupted, since the param.sfo editor I used so far can read it just fine.
How yours package.conf looks like? Did you use psn_package_npdrm.exe or psn_package_npdrm2.exe? And also, in PARAM.SFO, should I leave "boot" checked?thanks guys, after a few days, of trial and error, yes lmn7 was right, the package is corrupted after I installed it, so I take his suggestion, get the sfo file from the game and edit that as GD, and oof it works now and skips that game data installation now, thanks guys~!
I also experimented on few games also that requires mandatory game install, I cut all the files that is duplicate form mandatory game data install on the main game pkg, repackage that which is now way smaller (the main game pkg), with this I have 4 pkgs (update, game, lic and game data) and this saves me a couple of gigs on space already, I already did this for about 9 games already and I saved 30ish-gigs of space on that alone.

Edit: Do you know if it's possible to create a package with symbolic link, to install on PS3 OFW (with HAN)? I found a game that have madatory install, but it did'nt work without files on game path (I had to let it duplicated).
Edit2: I found someone with the same problem, but he/she was on CFW and did it with multiman (message #10):

Great. Thank you. I will try it.Leave everything in the PARAM.SFO as it is, only change the CATEGORY to GD and the version number if you want. I use a hex editor for this as it's easier for me, but you can use whatever you like.
It is not possible to create symbolic links with packages AFAIK, but you can use the PETT tools to create symbolic links.
Do you know where I can find PETT Tools?Leave everything in the PARAM.SFO as it is, only change the CATEGORY to GD and the version number if you want. I use a hex editor for this as it's easier for me, but you can use whatever you like.

Edit: I found PETT, but I don't find any option to create symbolic link
