PS3 Issues installing new SSD

Hey guys,

I have issues regarding installing new SSD.

I have PS3 Slim console bought recently on flea market. Model is 2504A 160GB. It was never opened. Few days ago I have opened it and tore the sticker and repasted it with MX4. To me it seemed it was never used as it didn't have speck of dust inside. Didnt have to clean it at all. But nevermind that.

Console worked perfectly. I have also installed Evilnat 4.90 with Webman, Minigunz etc.

Then I decided I dont have enough space so I ordered Adata SU650 1TB.
First thing I got is.
Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found.
Connected to PC, SSD works properly, formatted it to FAT32.

Put FAT32 stick into port 2 with EvilNat 4.90.
Put it back into console, console noticed I have to reformat it.
Did reformat and installed firmware.

Console restarted and again got
Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found.
Tried safe mode, initial beep, 2nd beep after 5 seconds and double beep. Hangs on black screen few minutes and Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found. again.

Tried few times reformatting SSD on both PC and Mac.
Console formatted it again, but install didnt start.
Now I can't even get to format again and safe mode wont start.

Just hangs few mins on black screen and getting
Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found.

Any solutions for this?

Oh and I also have same issues with old hdd now.

UPDATE: Ok managed to fix old hdd. Just have put in blue screw, what?

Okay found a solution.

What I did is just delete SSD drive/unallocate it, after putting it into PS3 everything went smoothly.

UPDATE: Well restarted system, got Cannot start. The appropriate system storage was not found. again. -.-

Connected SSD back to PC, and it changed to uninitialized state. Wtf?

Right now retrying whole process.

Yep again ,not recognizing it. Idk what else to do.

You should use a hard drive (highly recommended) or hybrid ssd so that your ps3 will last longer

the ps3 will format any drive that it does not recognise. it is custom filesystem with encryption. pc does not know what it is. then you formatted it and started the loop again. i still would use the hdd though. it should work fine.

Figured that out in a process. Yeah Ill switch to hdd as even after installing firmware, most of the time console while booting will not recognize ssd.

i had that issue once as well on my ps3 slim, i got some time ago an adata SU650 for 1tb, that one yep, is not comaptible to be used on the ps3, but the model of 480GB its compatible, actually thats the one that i have as internal HDD and goes really good

Sure lets see how it goes i used to hace a seagate HDD too on 7200 rpm however it was under 480gb and so far so good but yep SSD Will make a great difference

Aight just hopefully final update.
1TB HDD arrived today.

I have no issues anymore since I started using it.

I just had a similar issue with a new Adata SU650 240GB for my son's fat. It never worked, not even with the old HDD. I put an old spare HDD and at least 'advanced' to error "A serious error has occurred. contact technical support for assistance. (8002F281)"

After lots of searching this Reddit post fixed my issue: "Error Code 8002F281... FIXED!!!" (can't post links sorry)
"He said to basically just take the drive that the ps3 is refusing to read, pop it into your pc, and partition a 30 gb FAT32 partition onto it leaving the rest of the drive unallocated. Something to the effect, that the ps3 will see the small partition, recognize it as an error and prompt formatting."

I used the MiniTool Partition Wizard on my spare HDD and problem solved!

Thank you so much for the headache you spared me from.

Before my ADATA SU650 240 GB even arrived, I searched for "ADATA SU650 PS3" (just in case), and found this thread.

I was not aware that some SSDs were incompatible with the PS3, but I managed to use the Restore feature without any issues.

I restarted the system a few times after that, the SSD is always detected.

The only thing that didn't carry over was HEN (had to install), and also had to set up a theme in two different accounts.

great thats awesome to see, im still using my adata 480gb ssd into my ps3 slim and it goes really good, more than a year since i installed it and no issues so far or performance loss, is still really good, what i recommend to do is to install everything without installing new stuff or deleting infromation daily in order not to cause any issue due to that unfortanely trim cannot be performed neither by using adata ssd toolbox into it or any others
