Jailbroken ps3 save game progress

Hi,

A few years ago I really enjoyed GTA5 modding on my jailbroken PS3.

Now I just want to play GTA5 single player, but I can't save my game progress and I understand little about jailbroken ps3s and how they work.

Should I be able to save game progress on a jailbroken ps3, and if so can someone help me please?

When I go to the game save utility on the XMB, I get this 'Error in Content Enumeration' error message. And in the game, it says to turn off auto save because it won't work...

Cheers! :)

First to see such error.

Normally saving and managing saves are exactly the same on CFW/HEN and OFW. The same way they works, the same limitations they have.

Thanks guys I appreciate the speedy responses!

I found a fix on youtube:
I cannot guarantee safety of any of the files this guy has posted in the video's description.

OK cool I will try this when I get a chance and then post back here, cheers! :)

Not the same afaik, the modern CFWs they dont care about save data owner "FAKE SAVEDATA OWNER" which is by default enabled for them. Also is there any save data problem on DEX for PS3 and especially PS2 games.

Fake SaveData Owener is one of the debug options in DEX fw. So the same. I didn't said it is the same as CEX OFW but just OFW. :P

And turning on this option by default when You have NP Account ID is very bad idea as it will overwrite NPAID by fake user NPAID making Your save no longer yours but debug user.

Maybe I should have mentioned I am using a disc version of GTA5 here, like I said I don't have a good understanding of these systems I just used to mod back in the day and I knew enough to get in games with the loaded menus (it was awesome). Would I be better off trying to get it installed on the HDD?

with Apollo there's no need for fake data owner, as you can resign whatever you want (thanks to flatz reversing the PFD stuff). I honestly never needed it, and I prefer to keep my saves linked to my account-id.

This is useful for HEN right ?
As for CFW(s) at least for evilnat's resign savedata option is available so no need to use apolo.

Apollo works on HEN, and it is still needed on CFW if you want to modify any data file inside a save game, even if you're on Evilnat CFW.
If you only want to resign external ps3 saves and use them "as-is", then Evilnat resign is good to go

The technical explanation:
- the Evilnat resign feature (implemented in Cobra 8.3) only modifies and resigns the PARAM.SFO hash inside the PFD file. So basically the code modifies the SFO with the new account-id/console-id/etc, and then updates the PARAM.PFD to verify the integrity of the new param.sfo.
- But if you modify any other file inside that savegame (like hex-editing the save data) then the save-game will be detected as corrupted.
- Source code: https://github.com/Evilnat/Cobra-PS3/blob/master/8.3/4.88/NORMAL/CEX/SRC/stage2/savegames.c

So, in short:
- if you only need to resign a save and use it, Evilnat will do the job fine
- any advanced save-game modification, edit, or hack, can only be resigned by Apollo (or the pfdtools by flatz)
- if you have HEN, then Apollo is the only option available

@bucanero I'm not sure if You wanted quotation exactly me. I just answered to user @tungatung that FSDO option is OFW thing. ^^

And yes, hail to the king, long live Apollo. ^^

oh I just wanted to add a note about the fake owner thing, and just quoted the last message about it (sorry if it mixed up things)

now I just need to port Apollo to the PS Vita, so the king keeps adding PS-kingdoms :D hahahaha

And You know what? Those gfx libs also sucks there. :D

hahaha well the good thing is that I didn't care too much about tiny3d on ps3, nor the SDL2 lib on ps4, so I guess I won't care too much for the bad libraries on Vita either hahah :D

(I haven't checked in detail, but if there's a working SDL2 library on Vita, I could port the PS4 code to it quite easily... the rest should be straight forward, once I compile my "apollo-library" for the Vita too.)

@bucanero I'm not really sure if this is good thing. Even more, it is terrible thing, ruining artist vision. If I could go back in time when bilinear was invented, I would not allow to that. Maybe I could safe by that trillions of innocent GUI's?

TBH, I don't know that. I worked only with @Joel16 on VitaBackup (which never implemented user XML with custom paths or at least literally all paths needed for full backup; maybe it is worth to join the forces in new king Apollo arriving or maybe change flag of the ship to VitaBackup v3.0? ;p) and libs used there blurring the image. PSV/PSTV have very huge scene so I believe there are many possible choices to not hurt the images and font displaying. Maybe at least one Sony child could be spared of fate of older brothers? :D

I don't want to de-rail this thread as it feels we are hijacking the original message to talk about something else, but anyways I'll take a look at Vita backup just to learn about this tool. I think it has a different goal than Apollo, but I'll learn and then we can talk probably in a new thread. :encouragement:

I can't follow the steps because I am using a disc version of GTA5 he is using one installed on his HDD...
Assuming it's the path navigation on the PS3's drive, can you just go to the disc path instead of hdd path and replace the file there?
