To copy data from PS3 HDD, You can use PS3 (to USB stick but beware of FAT32 limitations, or via FTP but beware server instability with thousands of small files). The best approach IMO is PC with Linux - so the way from tutorial. In addition, I made toolkit so it is even easier now:

but use PS3 HDD Umounter in version 1.3 from this post: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps3-hdd-decryption-helper.38281/page-2#post-353759 (later I will replace it in Resources archive, it is very important because version from Resources will not unmount partitions on current Ubuntu, Mint etc.).
But things going complicated if You need write capabilities. Read entire discussion from here and here:
