Limitations Of PS3 HEN

RumpyTrumpy

Forum Noob
Greetings to the lovely folks of this lovely forum!

I am a proud user of the lovely HAN on my PS3 SuperSlim for quite some time. I thought it was decent, too much time consuming but atleast I could let my BD rest while installing my games as a PKG.

I recently installed HEN as well, no problems whatsoever. It was a lovely experience, made possible by the lovely AIO Guide made by that lovely guy. It may not be CFW, but lawd does it comes close to it.

However, I still wanna know from the experienced and lovely folks on this forum about the limitations of HEN. In simpler words, what fun am I missing ?

(Lookin at ya buddies, Devil, Cards etc)

no ps2 iso
no linux
wont autostart, has to be enable manually
no ccapi

those are the biggest ones

Anoher one is you cant dump the EID_root_key, and as a consequence of it:
-No CEX to DEX conversion
-No gamedata rebuilding
-No trophy rebuilding
-Not posible to decrypt hdd in PC
-Not posible to replace the IDPS fully and permanently
-Maybe some more i dont remember right now...

Some homebrews need to be resigned to work , online safety still unclear if you activate HEN , some functions in backup managers don't work ( copy a backup game , irisman fan ..etc )

The most annoying downside to hen would be not having the ability to run iso's and bins through webman, but you can work around it by using Multiman to encrypt the iso/bin into a .enc file, which can be used with the ps2 classics rebug edition Homebrew tool if you mount the .enc to the drive.

What do you mean with it ?
The trophy and savedata folders contains a security file named PARAM.PFD, this file keeps a record of the hashes of other protected files in the folder
Lets say... this file supervises the security of the other files, and works like a anti-tampering protection
To en/de/crypt the PARAM.PFD is needed the EID_root_key (unique for your PS3)... but in HEN you cant get it

Im mentioning it because is needed to modify the PARAM.PFD files to transfer savedata and trophies in between 2 user profiles or/and 2 different consoles

Thanks to all ya lovely folks for the answers. Most of the stuff mentioned here does not interest me, so I think HEN is more than enough for me. Cheers, ya beautiful, lovely basturds!

How is that even possible ? I transferred my backup ISO to my internal HDD, opened webman to access the ISO though the lovely file-manager, and click it. When I did that, it said that the game was mounted. I went to my games section, and there it was, on the screen as if I had inserted my game disc. I can run iso with webman, no problem.

Very true. But, truth be told, I never did like my online experience on the PS3.
However, hopefully it gets patched in the future. Fingers crossed!

On my hen console it says the game disc is unsupported for ps2 games and the iso comes up with a question mark icon, unless it was fixed in a update or you are using rebug. My rebug console does iso's just fine for ps2,but my hen console has the unsupported message.ps1 iso's and bins by the way work well on hen, just no ps2 ones will work, unless you convert them into ps2 classics, which run with the ps2 classics launcher as a .enc file,if you convert a iso to a enc with Multiman in standard mode.
