Md5 doesn't match

I have cfw compatible ps3, but md5 just doesn't match, no matter how many times i downloaded files. What to i do? Should i still try to install anyway?

@GamingVexed What exactly do you mean by the MD5 doesn't match - MD5 for what, and what files are you referring to? You really need to be more specific.

None of the download in the md5 numbers doesn't match what i have. Do i need to give my ps3 md5 numbers?

I'm trying to jailbreak my ps3 which is cfw compatible, and the problem is none the md5 matches mine. And i don't want to risk getting bricked.

Ah okay, now I see what you mean - I was confused as to what you meant about MD5 hashes. First of all, have you used the PS3 Toolset to patch your PS3's NAND/NOR flash? Without this you will be unable to install any CFW PUP, regardless of anything else

Secondly: when it comes to a firmware PUP to install via System Update, the worst that can happen with a mismatched MD5 is the PUP file is in some way corrupted from the download and/or transfer to USB process, in which case you'll just get an error and it will not install, reverting to the existing firmware. Simply re-download and then test the MD5 once it is on the USB ready to be plugged into the PS3 (i.e. USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP).

I just downloaded CFW EVILNAT 4.88.2 COBRA 8.3 [CEX] from the link you posted, and using WinMD5Free I was able to match the MD5 from the .PUP inside PS3\UPDATE to the one below the Mega link in that thread as well as the md5.txt contained in the rar archive. So, my advice is re-download the same one I did (unless you have issues with your Blu-ray drive or Bluetooth module) and re-check. But, you will not brick your system by any means - you will just get a corrupt file message and the installation will cancel.

I don't know about Ps3 toolset patch, but i tried to see md5 again and it's some random but doesn't match, i'm confused also, so what to i do?

Are you sure you're checking the PS3UPDAT.PUP against the posted MD5? It worked first time for me when I tested it earlier. Testing the RAR file that is the download itself will give a different MD5 as it's not the .PUP itself - is that what you have been checking?

And, unless you've already patched your flash, it won't matter if the MD5 matches as the PUP will not install without the jailbreak itself.

Follow this guide carefully, step-by-step. If your PS3 is CFW compatible, the Toolset will let you patch. After that, you can reboot and install a CFW such as Evilnat's.
