PS2 MechaPwn by MechaResearch 2.00

Alright so I have tried both CEX and DTL and both will not work on a PAL SCPH-90004 for ORIGINAL ps1 games, backups work sometimes but not always on DTL option. I have tried DTL-90000, DTL-900001, DTL-90004 and none of them read original NTSC/UC Final Fantasy IX unfortunately, so I think PAL Deckard consoles just don't have the option to run original PS1 games and backups are iffy as well.

If you patch as DTL-H90001, every Ps1 (originals and backups) game should boot.

If you patch to DTL-H90004, only PAL games (either originals or backups) will boot. You can boot backups, firstly patching them to europe region (with disk patcher 3.0).

If Ps1 games boot only sometimes, then most probably your CDs are ruined, or also your Ps2 lens (maybe the CD trimmer needs an adjustment).

Yeah backups only gets read sometimes, it's weird. After a bit of thinking I do think I need to adjust the potentiometer, even though this PS2 is pretty much very new and barely has any time played on it I will just simply have to try that because with the original FFIX discs it tics for the first 5 seconds trying to read the disc until it says it can't read it, and it does the same for the backups when it can't read those, however when it can read the backups it doesn't do the ticcing sound, so yeah I do think it's the potentiometer that needs a tiny bit of adjustment, which is a hassle but always better than soldering a modchip I guess :p

sounds like your laser is the issue not mechapwn

Definitely that's the issue. I adjusted both of them (CD and DVD trimmer) recently on the Ps2 slim. I suggest you to use a multimeter for checking the correct resistence (those trimmers are incredibly sensitive).

Yeah, I was just asking to be absolutely sure that he means that (hence questionmark and exclamationmark after "Pot(i)s"). ;)

If I have a PS2 slim SCPH-90006 which is NTSC-J 50 Hz from Hong Kong and use MechaPwn to turn it into a DTL-H90001, would it make it run North American (NTSC) PS1/PS2 games at 60 Hz? Correct aspect ratio too? Or is PS1VModeNeg required for that?

so after installing and testing a new laser with a master patched dvd-r on my dtl-h90001 (no force unlock) and with my fmcb 1.8 card inserted i found out backups boot from osdsys and are detected as playstation2 discs on browser. strange cause this doesnt happen on my dtl-h50001 so its a deckard ps2 thing

I have a SCPH-50001 that while using FreeMCBoot it will boot some discs from the OSDSYS. Specifically I remember burning Shinobi to a DVD+R and it booted when inserted at the OSDSYS menu, showing inverted colors on the Playstation 2 logo but otherwise no issues. Not sure exactly why that behavior exists but it's not just the 90000 series.

FMCB 1.8 only, right?

This guy also can boot the backup games normally without master disk patch and without force unlock, he's on FMCB 1.8 in a ps2 fat mechapwned to DTL-H50001

Checked his other videos and the comment section and it seems legit, so what possible makes you think the games boot normally on v1.8 without master disk patch and force unlock ?

Force Unlock allows you to boot games with no master disk patch
ESR patched games will boot with FMCB directly
A modchip could also be installed

I recall seeing on post (might've been on here) where the person HEX Edited something (maybe the DVD file) to play all regions discs (might've been backups), making it region free.

He booted the game without those stuff and in the comments he told some guy in one of the videos that he burned the game using Nero on 4x, no sign of ESR being used though
He showed the game going to a RSOD without the memory card inserted, but when he inserted the v1.8 fmcb card back inside the game booted so i don't think it has modchip too

@P10God i really don't know
Someone could try doing this to see if it shows any results like him

I didn't saw the video when I replied with the multiple options. I just saw the video and it is what I said before:
"Force Unlock allows you to boot games with no master disk patch"
So, FMCB just skips the RSOD.
