PS3 Memory Modification in PS3 Games

Hello,:flustered:

This is my first post, and I'd like to start by thanking all the moderators for organizing this website and everyone else who has contributed by sharing their knowledge with us. Every time I search on Google, I end up here, which ultimately led me to register.

Challenge:

I am here to inquire about something related to the PlayStation 3. Is there a tool available that allows me to modify game memory, similar to Cheat Engine?

I'm interested in editing values such as health and ammo, and finding what writes to these addresses.

I know such tools exist for the PS5 and PS4, but I'm unsure if one has been created for the PS3.

Things I have tried :

I've used Cheat Engine with a PS3 emulator to modify game memory, 300000000-341FFFFFF but I'd prefer to use it directly on the PS3 console itself. This approach would help me identify specific parts of the code, enabling me to modify the eboot.bin file using tools like Ghidra or IDA Pro.

If the process or setup takes a long time, I am willing to pay for support. Please send me your Discord or Slack details via private message, and I will reach out to you.

Goal :

My goal is purely exploratory; I have no intention of causing any harm. A long time ago, someone managed to hack a game in 2014, and I'm curious to understand how they identified the correct offset/address within the big disassembled code of the eboot.bin file. I suspect they may have used some sort of debugger to achieve this, and I'd like to learn more about the process.

Thank you!

A save state for you is possible on real hw? Like emulator?

Hello Naxil,

Thank you for your reply

I'm familiar with modifying save game files and game scripts using HxD, particularly when adjusting gun modifications like range and fire rate. However, I'd like to know how to modify these elements in real time, similar to how Cheat Engine tool.

Already exist tool on ps3 for cheat? On ps4 with latest hen is possible use cheat (like invulnearibility , infinite ammo ecc). But i never try it on ps3

I think tmapi or ccapi are rtm tools based off of prog dg, which is an official series of tools by Sony, for real time modding or debugging on the system itself. I don't know much about any of them, they're just in the back of my mind.

Thank you, Naxil, for your assistance. I'll continue researching and await further insights from other experts.

Hey Charles, Thank you for your reply

I've also come across CCAPI and RTMI, and I have a CFW/DEX PS3. However, I'm still figuring out how to utilize it effectively. Most tutorials I've found on YouTube feature RTM tools created by others. I'm really interested in creating these mods myself, rather than relying on pre-made tools. If you have any insights or resources on how to start developing my own tools, I'd greatly appreciate your guidance!

I would like to replace some buttons in a soccer game, example analog left to analog right, is this possible to apply directly to the game ?

They weren't asking about save states, though save states are also possible using a debug binary and ProDG. Mind however that you have to be on DEX, be connected from your PC (which is done over the network, so no dedicated cables) and the save state would be created on your PC and not on the console itself.
