I was wondering if this was possible, games such as Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and Spider-Man Web of Shadows, suffer from constant Screen Tearing, I was wondering if it's possible to modify the files in the game folders to prevent this.

Try to see if your TV allows to configure it using some kind of "game mode" in the video settings, this special modes works nice for the PS3
Is like allowing the PS3 to send the HDMI video signal directly to the panel (bypassing the video procesing circuits of the TV board)... so there is less "lag" because HDMI data is sent faster, also there are some details of the screen adjustment are perfect because you are bypassing some of the TV video settings

Other thing you could try is to reduce the allowed screen resolutions in [XMB]>[Settings]>[Video]
Lets say... if your TV allows for 3 modes... disable the 2 best ones and keep available only the worst of them... and boot the game that way to see what happens
Then repeat with the other modes, the point is... when you allow only one of the video modes the game only can boot with it (is either use it, or dont boot), so you have a better control of which one is used each time you boot it

Anyway... i guess it could be caused also by a cheap TV with a big lag, or even by a bad HDMI cable

Tried that, afraid it didn't do anything. Bear in mind, the screen tearing only happens on Web of Shadows, and Force Unleashed. I am certain it's something in the game itself that needs to be changed.

are you playing the ps3 version of these games? or playing the ps2 version on ps3?

if you are playing ps2 then what model is ps3? cech-?? in this case you may config file.

ok then i can only recommend what sandungas already has.
Aw shoot. There's no way to modify any of the files in the game folders? Like I said, the only two games I experience screen tearing is Force Unleashed and Spider-Man Web of Shadows.

maybe it has to do with the fact that both are available on ps2 and ps3. maybe the ps2 was almost done and they decided to do a quick port for ps3. so they used the same graphics sources and those just dont look good on ps3. it may not be possible to fix at all in a case like that.
