PS5 Moving data to new internal m.2

So my internal m.2 is full and I'm about to order a 2TB to replace it. Is it possible to move all the data that's currently on the internal to the new drive or do I have to download everything all over again? I've searched the site and Google but I haven't found anything, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to download everything again. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Not possible outside PS5. If You will make sector by sector copy, You will end with the same size as source drive without a way to enlarge it other way than formatting.

PS5 games and saves for PS5 games cannot be moved/copy to USB drive so it is typical dick move by Sony to force You to buy PlayStation Plus shit.

I figured it out, but thanks for the useful tip. I didn't realize there was a built in internal ssd that was the default storage for PS5. I thought it was an m.2 drive, and you upgraded it. That's what I was asking, if there was a way to transfer the data from that m.2 to another. But I was wrong, when you install an m.2 drive, you're actually adding internal storage to the existing built in ssd. So there's no need to copy that data to a new disk, because it is installed to a separate drive entirely. Thank you for the help, you are appreciated.

Yeah, the "internal storage device" are a few chips soldered into the motherboard, they did that because the controller is custom (different number of channels than standards M.2 and added features related with de/compressed data, and probably encryption, etc...)
Btw, in the PS5 menu settings there is a way to import/export data to USB for backup purposes, and there are options to select which kind of data is going to be backuped/restored, as example you could make a backup of the game savedata only

In your case you dont need to do it because you are adding a new M.2 SSD (by now everything is in the internal chips until you install it)... but i guess if at some point you replace the external M.2 you are installing now by a new M.2 it could be handy
You know... incase there is something in the old M.2 you need to backup it before removing it.. and later restore it either in the same PS5 or a different one

There are options under the backup settings where you can choose to backup the saves only, is mentioned here

Is a feature intended to use it offline, in the same way it was posible to do a backup of the whole hdd of a PS3 but in PS5 you can select the kind of data that is going to be backuped... same stuff but is a bit better because is more selective

...You can backup game saves to USB on PS5 for PS5 titles, but with no option to control which saves are backed up. Go to Settings > System. Select System Software > Back Up and Restore > Back Up Your PS5.

There you can choose to back up saves only, but it's also mandatory to save the system settings taking up 1GB of storage and you can't choose which saves are to be backed up. You have to copy all of them. It also requires a couple of console reboots

seems the factory built in internal storage is for both ps4 and ps5, same as installing a new m.2. both platforms can be installed and played from both internal sources. but if you attach an external usb hdd, you can only play ps4 games from it, not ps5. but you can "store" ps5 games on the external, but they can't be played from there.
