multiMAN MOD

PS3 multiMAN 4.91 MOD by aldostools Explained 4.91

Is it fixable?

Bad game dumps, patched games or EBOOT signed incorrectly are common cause of black screens.

The issues with Dynamic Fan Control on HEN can be fixed changing the fan mode to SYSCON or manual (fixed fan speed).

The black screen issues in some games caused by bad configuration can be fixed adjusting the setting in multiMAN.
e.g. enabling BD Mirror.

Some issues in multiMAN with PS3 games in folder format can be solved keeping a PS3 disc inserted in Bluray drive.

Some black screen issues occurs when a PS3 game is launched with a PS3 controller is connected to USB.

In most of the cases the solution requires trial-error.

If Multiman MOD is compatible with DEX systems for CFW Rebug Rex (4.81-4.84)

multiMAN MOD = Original multiMAN + new prepNTFS.self + MMFILE.SELF + muted sound in default theme

Only the path for wmtmp, the FW version displayed and some outdated links were changed in multiMAN.
The application remains exactly the same with the same compatibility.

prepNTFS.self is prepISO 1.33a modified to work with multiMAN MOD. This adds support for games stored in exFAT.

MMFILE.SELF is Simple File Manager MOD 0.11. This adds file management support for NTFS and exFAT drives.
It should be launched manually from File Manager.

Interestingly enough @aldostools would you be able to replace the iso format that is used by multiman to use bin and cue instead for dumping psx games? or is it only on irisman?

The changes to multiMAN requires access to source code. The modifications that I did in "multiMAN MOD" were made using an hex editor to replace some strings in the decrypted SELF files of mmCM & multiMAN. The exFAT support was done replacing prepNTFS with a custom version of prepISO which is open source.

Dear brother, I need to upload files in PKG format using CDN technology, like the files uploaded in hacked PlayStation 3 libraries, so they can be downloaded automatically without needing to go to a page to download the game' Do you know of a site that offers this feature or know of another way? Greetings.

You can create your own as long as you don't share it with pkgi.

multiMAN MOD solves the black screen issues and freezes caused by corruption of the cached .ntfs[PS3ISO] files.

Other black screen issues caused by dynamic fan control on HEN or bad configuration is not solved.

Some games in multiMAN require additional settings pressing SQUARE and changing these options.

I'm up to date on Evilnat and everything, PS1 games ran fine on Irisman until I tried copying memory card data to another version of the same game using Multiman. PS2 games mount and load fine, but now when I try to load up games whether with "Internal_MCVM1" or "Internal Memory Card VM1", I get a black screen. I tried reinstalling Irisman, but same thing happens. The games worked with "Internal Memory Card VM1", and now I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting a black screen when trying to boot up a PS1 game. I use Irisman to load some games as there's compatibility issues with them on Webman.

mmCM 4.91 MOD is compatible with HEN and CFW. It works with previous firmware versions too like 3.55, 4.21, 4.84, etc.

Indeed mmCM 4.91 MOD is based on the modified version of mmCM prepared by @Joonie for HEN.
I also created another package that is based on the latest mmCM 4.85.1 but there are not remarkable differences.

"Unfortunately, some PS2 game versions won't work on a modded PS3, whether using HEN or CFW, as they display a black screen. This happens whether you try them in ISO format, ISO.BIN.ENC format, or PKG format. Even when using the PS2 emulator on PS3, the game still shows a black screen. To be honest, brother Aldostools, I tried World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 PS2 on a modded PS3, but sadly, it just shows a black screen. Could you possibly help us out? A number of great games unfortunately give a black screen. Could you perhaps modify them to be compatible with modded PS3 systems? Please download and test the game, and you'll see the issue. Hopefully, we can find a solution. Looking forward to your response. Best regards."

I'd love to play the latest dev build of Twisted Metal: Harbor City on mine, the one provided by CVLT OF OSIRIS (TMHC Later 01 14 Pieces Rebuild 17 ISO). I tried getting it to work, but it goes black screen after the boot up screen. Tried both webman and Irisman. Fortunately, I got the 2004 build to work! I was in utter shock it worked. But I'd love for the more complete version of Harbor City to work. They recently got it working with PCSX2. But, I prefer playing PS2 games on my PS3.

This is a MOD of multiMAN 4.84.00 which was re-signed for PS3HEN by @Joonie and published on Brewology.com.
This version is compatible with CFW and PS3HEN and it does not show annoying nag screens.

This release was made patching the ELF contained in the SELF files data0 and data1 found in sys folder.
These files correspond to the executables of multiMAN and mmCM (multiMAN Cobra Manager) respectively.

The patches were these:
1- Changed /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp to /dev_hdd0/tmp/mmtmp to avoid conflicts with webMAN MOD.
This folder is used to store the cached sectors generated by prepNTFS when it scans ISOs on NTFS disks.
The wmtmp folder is also used by prepISO, but it uses a different file structure for the cached sectors.
As consequence multiMAN was corrupting the files in prepISO and vice versa. This resulted in frequent black screens when multiMAN and webMAN MOD were used together.

Separating the destination folder solves this conflict between prepISO and prepNTFS in multiMAN.

Why did I change the path multiMAN and not in webMAN MOD? Because it was easier to fix the path in a single application, instead of force the webMAN MOD users to update multiple tools.

2- Changed the help and support links in multiMAN. These links were outdated. Now the point to Brewology and DeanK's website apps.movian.eu.

3- Changed firmware detection to "4.91" instead of "4.75". So 4.75 and 4.86-4.91 are detected as 4.91.

4- Changed System Information to display again the firmware version.

Other major changes in the PKG:
  • Replaced prepNTFS.self with a modified version of prepISO adapted to use multiMAN's file structure of cached sectors. This tool adds support to scan ISO games stored in exFAT, NTFS and ext2/3/4.

  • Added FILEMM.SELF. This file is a modified version of Simple File Manager MOD (aka fm_psx) originally developed by @lmirel. This file manager application has support for copy / move / delete / rename files and folders stored in HDD, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS and ext2/3/4.

Launch this application from multiMAN's File Manager clicking on mmCM icon. This opens the folder /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR in a new window. From here select FILEMM.SELF and press (X) to launch the File Manager. The application returns to multiMAN on exit.

  • Updated SHOWTIME.SELF to movian M7 7.0.2. This is the latest SHOWTIME available for multiMAN. The standalone version of movian has more recent updates but it is not fully integrated to multiMAN.

  • Updated multiMAN theme. Based on the default theme with replaced backgrounds and silenced the background music SOUND.BIN and sys/BOOT.MP3
  • Updated name in PARAM.SFO to show multiMAN MOD

  • Updated paths in options_default.ini. It's recommended that the users check the paths in options.ini and update them according to their needs and environment.

  • LICENSE, SHOWTIME.VER and What's New.txt where updated too.

A little off topic but does disabling syscalls before playing a game save memory usage and allow for better stability or when you start a game everything unloads and it makes no difference?
