PS2 [MX4SIO/SIO2SD] SD Card Adapter and SD-driver for the PS2 SIO2 interface

Only OPL BDM3 (version for 7500+) from the package attached to an earlier Youtube video always causes a black screen on all versions of my consoles.

Hmmm, o.k, let's be sure you have the correct OPL BDM.

You need the version 1629 / "opnps2ld-v1-1-0-beta-1629-e20f2ee-bdm3-zip".

Find it here, link to Page 15...
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/m...iver-for-the-ps2-sio2-interface.29210/page-15

...at the bottom of Page 15, post by Maximus32, there are two versions of BDM attached to his post:-

- OPL 1627 (not for Deckard PS2)

- OPL 1629 (for Deckard PS2)

Which one have you been testing?

EDIT...

SCPH_70XXX
(and lower) = IOP ...needs OPL 1627

SCPH_ 75XXX (and higher) = Deckard ...needs OPL 1629

Both of these files posted by Maximus32 seem to be the same size as the files attached to the Youtube video
which I tested but have different names.

On my both 70004 consoles OPL 1627 works excellent, but OPL 1629 causes always black screen - it is ok.
Strange, but on my 75004 and 77004 consoles OPL 1627 works, but DS2 pad hangs, however OPL 1629 causes always black screen too.

My 75004 and 77004 consoles should be Deckard, but are they not?
Do I have any unusual or strange versions of these consoles?

When I get home I will check it again on the second files from the link you gave.

Yes, just to be sure, take both 1627 and 1629 from Maximus32 post, bottom of page 15. Maximum32 + Wisi wrote the OPL Beta 1627 and 1629 Forks. So best to take it from original source.

Again your 70004 is IOP and will work best with BDM 1627. And for your 75004 and 77004 these are Deckard and will work best with BDM 1629.

You will have to do as mentioned before, i.e. first have official OPL v1.1.0, then using OPL v1.1.0 change the settings as per my post above, save the settings / changes. Then (after) copy onto FMCB mem' card the OPL Beta BDM 1627 (for 70004) and / or OPL Beta BDM 1629 (for 75004 and 77004). Try with DS2, DS3, DS4 (one at a time). If still there is a problem (black screen or controller not working) then launch uLE and check you only have 1 x OPL (config) folder in Path: mc0:/ (like in my photo i showed above / before).

Does anyone if a list of compatible SD cards has been compiled yet? Also: what format do CD-based games need to be in, ISO?

I don't think so yet, but pretty much all cards work, even no-brand ones, just not SanDisk.

Yes, CD-based games (.bin / .cue) need to be converted to .ISO, you can do this with:- OPL Manager > Tools > Disc/Convert to ISO.

Oh, even with the PADEMU settings "ON" and "Global" ? Do you know what issue did Mr.Mario had, was it like OPL BDM3 black screen, or controller not working?
It was the black screen which is what I also had with the bootleg FMCB but he used an official memory card. I need to get me one of these models to test things myself.

And Mr.Mario's PS3 is a 790XX (Deckard), so he would have needed OPL Beta 1629, is that what he tested your MC2SIO with? Maybe he was using OPL Beta 1627 by mistake? (just putting it out there in case).

Wow !!!
After re-formatted memory card, installed FMCB 1.964 and copied the BDM OPL files from the link given by Workz_777 everything works fine on the 75004 and 77004 with the OPL 1629.

BTW. On OPL OPL 1627 in this consoles pad hangs like before but it is normal. ;)

Thank you for all advice.

One more thing, OPL 1627 and OPL 1629 very often freeze when running games over an SMB/ETH connection.
When you start the game, the message "Loading config." appears and hangs.

That's really good news, i'm happy for you bro. :D

Yes so OPL 1627 and OPL 1629 don't work for USB or SMB/ETH, they only work for MX4SIO. That's why i have both, OPL 1629 + Official OPL v1.1.0 on the same FMCB. OPL 1629 for MX4SIO, and Official OPL v1.1.0 for SMB/ETH (open media vault).

That is not correct!
FAT and 70k Slim run with both versions.

Edit: It seems it was already mentioned.

So for both versions of consoles 7000- and 7500+ I only need one OPL 1629 and another OPL 1.1.0 for games with SMB / ETH?

Yes.

PS2s have 5 digits though...

Yes and no... BDM3 and any other 1.1.0+ build for MX4SIO and any other preferred OPL version for all the already "normal" (non-experimental) stuff!

It's obvious that PS2 have 5 digits, a mental shortcut ;).

However, the second official OPL 1.1.0+ in any version provided that the configuration files in the OPL folder are identical/compatible.
I understand it correctly?

The "mental shortcut" would be "70k" and "75k"! ;)

Regarding the last question/paragraph: I am not sure what you are asking for!

OK, logical. :)
In the sense that if a newer version of normal OPL appears, the configuration files from this OPL BDM may not be the same ?

Does anyone sell this SD Card Adapter from a country in EU ?

AngryHelder doesn't ship to France anymore... so I can't buy from him.
And sadly the solution of buying from any shops in England (NOT in UE anymore...) is a bad idea :
the amount of taxes is ridiculous in 2022 !

If you want I can share you my PCB design wich I designed to be manufactured at home with single-layer PCBs

thank you !
But i'm absolutely not a technician or a nerd guy with the right skills ....:suspicion: .

I'll be happy to buy an adapter from a source affiliate to this nice project.:tranquillity:

I guess most people will go and check on Aliexpress , but we can never know what quality you will get in the end : it's a lottery !!
And of course no money will got this project ...:sorrow:

Maybe you could ask the seller (if in England) to send the parcel marked as "Gift" on the export declaration form. Then you shouldn't have to pay any extra import tax.

I have some MX4SIO (original dev specs), i want to do a Free Give-Away (lottery) here on PSX Place (soon). They are ready but i am waiting for the components for the LEDs. I have everything here, just waiting for the Mosfets from the BOM (shipped already) to arrive, all being well soon. Aiming to post a thread here on PSX Place if/ when Mosfets arrive - with about 14 days before the actual (live Youtube) draw will take place (via random.org). People who want to enter just need to reply to that thread and their user-name will go in the list for the draw. Thanks to another friend here, the shipping would also be 100% free (world-wide).... watch this space, sorry for the delay.
