PS3 my new "baby"

I had trouble finding the tri-state point on my ver 00 that I permanently installed an e3 flasher in. I documented it over in the hardware mods section. I think the thread was called my e3 flasher journey or something. I remember having to remove a small resistor and soldering to one of the legs to initiate tri-state and dual boot. Been awhile, I got it wrong the first time, then figured it out with the help kp420, and Lilballup in the end.
as I have written, I will use some trick, by putting a small wire underneath southbridge in the upper area to verify tristate. the project is put on ice atm, cause I will need some help from my father to hold the mainboard and the probe on the other side

@sandungas
lol. I will get to syscon when I have soldered my flasher into my baby and reanimated her. btw, I have ordered a teensy now

ok, now it is time to get her revived and my regulator+some other stuff will arrive tomorrow.

btw, I will externalise power supply (or use black pc power supply) and made some adapter for these rounded clamps. have slaughtered the cechc power supply and removed the counter part

small update
I finally have soldered my teensy and everything works as intended. still haven't rescued her though
if anyone is interested, I have made a post on psxtools with the testpoints
https://psxtools.de/forum/index.php...stpunkte-decr-1400a/&postID=833513#post833513

I have have verified the testpoints several times, even with soldered teensy, which was the easiest in the end. thanks for the suggestion @sandungas

now time to reanimate her and also time to find the mistake I have made on coreos

Nice to know that debbie is still alive and has been upgraded with a teensy :)
Yeah, a soldered teensy is the most relliable, because if you did a good soldering job the control and data singals are going to be a lot more clean. Any other flasher with a clip (like E3) is going to be more prone to interferences because what we have in the clip pins is a contant "metal to metal" where the electrons needs to do a microscopical "jump" to cross the gap
In a soldered teensy that "jumps" doesnt exists, the electrons travels alongs the wires more smoothly, for a permanent installation is the best way to go, the only annoyance is for manteinance tasks the next times you need to open/close it, you are going to have a bunch of wires attached to the motherboard, but well... there are ways to prevent that mess

puh, what a dance it was and "Debby" somehow has suffered a bit. dunno if she was critical before, but it seems there is a rsx issue now, but I could solve it with some more pressure on the clamps, so she is breathing again, yay.

I was so careful with her, but removing the cooler could have been too much for this damn rsx and I really hate this chip now. I first have thought this was it finally and I have a nice little paperweight, honestly and I even have cried about it, as weird as it sounds.

at least my soldering was perfectly done, but I will redo it a 3rd time. again from mainboard to teensy and not vice versa, which was pretty awful this 2nd try. I should have left it with my 1st soldering job, but I was shocked because of the glod and removed completely the teensy

woohoo, I've got the real deal now just today fetched it myself - the DECR-1000A, yeeha :D

this is my honest "wet dream"

this big lady I won't touch at all and will run only official rebug. will post pix later. I am still on my way back home

btw, these are much bigger than I have even thought. they look so small on pictures and videos, but they are really huge and about 20kg. I have gone 380km by train to get her, but this was worth it to me. it has ofw 4.40DEH running and the best, she is already delidded on both cell+rsx, hehe.

she is comming from england and now I have to find some nice name for her. and for "Debby" I still have to find some really good 'doctor'

The motherboard of the DECR-1000 is named TMU-520, i cant imagine any female name that could match with it (tamiku, tomichu ?) but this fits well...

Terminus :D
A "terminus" or "terminal" is a station at the end of a railway line. Trains arriving there have to end their journeys (terminate) or reverse out of the station. Depending on the layout of the station, this usually permits travellers to reach all the platforms without the need to cross any tracks

I really wanna know if it's target id check or something else preventing mgmt and sp-int env. Is it only the target id?

damn if you have skills I would love to see that and traffic flow

ok, so here are my first impressions. I won't remove the mainboard or anything else for now, so no pictures for these components for the time being.

I have to admit, even the cooling is awesome, I couldn't resist to put 2 small ebm papst fans into the airflow tunnel in front of the heatsinks, to get them actively cooled. though, this was my only modification and probably will be the only one, cause I do not want to make any damage to this beast

also have made my first general running test just now, to see if everything is fine. we both have made this crazy journey without any harm. :)

and believe me, there really have some weird things happened yesterday, but only on my way to the seller

@sandungas
Tamiku, what a beautiful name. like it :)

I guess this was no question and just a statement, lol. well that's mean, but yeah, I guess I cannot help you with that. besides, I only get skills, if I do things I really need myself and if I am interested in. and online stuff is not my interest at all

yeah I really am lucky this time, cause the owner had 2 of them and also has tried to sell the 2nd one before, guess on psxtools, so only germany. but tbh, I had to wait for this jewel 10 years now ;)

he has done a really great job in cleaning and delidding with much respect and love to detail

he told me, these were bought from England and obviously mine at least was sitting in a rack mount, cause it has some serious scratches on the surface, but this does not bother me much cause inside it is perfect condition. only thing that bothers, it hasn't the RF-antenna, so I have to get it from USA, but maybe next month

Are not scratches, are honorable war bounds :D
I think is better if it was in a rack for lot of time than moving around in the office, or moving around in between the houses of the employees

Btw, as far i remember there is another peripheral compatible with the DECR-1400, the "footswitch"
Is a pedal, pretty much like the ones used by guitar players or in electrical sewing machines, is a simple switch, when you press the pedal the DECR-1000 runs some software actions, i guess is intended to make memory dumps while you are playing/debugging the game/app... but i also guess the related software could be configured to do other things

just some delidding and cooling pictures. unluckily, the 1000A has these dreaded tokins unlike the 1400A, which has some other tokins (maybe the better ones?), but probably no difference

Dont worry much about the tokins, the serial number is different than the other PS3 models, but is the same component, his purpose is to work as capacitors and to stabilize and cleanup the power lines
In the other PS3 models there are only 2 tokin types, based in his total capacitance, as far i remember 1000uf or 1200uf
I dont know how much are yours from the DECR-1000 though but doesnt matters much, there is people that reported success after removing half of them or after replacing them by tantalum capacitors

have took a glance now on the 1000A's hdd and unfortunately there was only some gamedata from the kid's game Wonderbook :confused:
not sure, but isn't this made from a British company?

and for my 1400A I will take now another route with flashing just for testings. I have soldered wires now to the (broken) e3 clip, which I will attach to my teensy and then do my 4.21 coreos tests

and now that I have delidded it as well, I can make better pressure tests, and hopefully find the source for the artifacts and GLOD

just some random nonsense...
@sandungas
I was reading some official documents lately and stumbled on something maybe related to the codename of the TMU-520 mainboard. I really like your version "Tamiku" which sounds beautiful to me, but when I have done some translations of some jp dox, I've came across "Tāminaru" which stands for "Terminal". this most probably is their codename for it, since the 1000A is mostly used in conjunction with terminal commands. so your other suggestion for "terminus" wasn't that far fetched

Interesting, yeah, if i had to bet, the only name i could imagine that makes a bit of sense was that idea of terminus/terminal, and what you mentioned about the taminaru

Btw, for fun... you can add a suffix to the name of your baby, if we assume the real name is "taminaru" you could contrapt it in several different ways :D

Nah, not needed, is not so important and im optimistic, eventually someone else will tell me :)
Well I thought I might change the thermal paste then give you the number but I just delid the whole thing about 3 months ago Temps are awesome. And after Joanie helped me fix my dump after I bricked the dam thing it works excellent except for the Region problem when playing DVD movies or blue ray movies. But for game play it works great, the console seems more responsive than a retail console. Not sure if that has to do with the extra ram or not in debug settings there is option for retail memory or tool memory but not sure if it makes any difference o_O
