Need help/advice on upgrading storage

How would I go about replacing the current drive within the ps3 and preserving my ability of on the fly licensing without having to log into psn and reactivating the console all over again?

I've already done what so many advises you to do and backed up my act.dat, xRegistry.sys and idps in case of emergencies. Now I'm just wondering about replacing the storage within the ps3 whether it be for upgrading storage of in case of hardware failure.

Is it as easy as the following described stages?:

- Copy the files for the current user profile of off the current drive,
- replace the old drive w. the new one,
- reinstalling HFW from within recovery mode,
- reinstall hen,
- replace the files of the then new user profile with the backed up one (includes act.dat),
- replace the new xRegistry.sys with the previously backed up one,
- reboot,
- profit?

Would restoring "on the fly" licensing be this easy or would this result in the ps3 just not playing installed games and then requiring to reactivate the console via psn instead?
...
Or is there some cloning software/homebrew which would expand the partition that reflects mass storage and just be plug and play after that?

If You will use old act.dat, all licenses will be valid on the same console. But for Your safety of future use (on another PS3 or emulator) strip them to *.rap by Apollo SaveData Tool. Of course all activation's and licenses are per user so You must do it for each of them.

Restoring xRegistry.sys grants You the same NP Account ID, so no need for saves resigning either.

That is not possible, especially on HEN.

Yeah, it's on the same console (HEN 3.1.1 HFW 4.87.1). Would copying the user files, as I mentioned, restore the old user onto the new drive and have all previous activation and rap files work as if the storage was never replaced to begin with?

Edit: Changed the question to be more specific.
