Need help getting a working PS3Hen setup?

I have a CECH-3001B PS3. I originally installed Hen about a year ago. Not sure what version it was. I installed a bunch of plugins and apps. Webman, Multiman, Irisman, and Manyguns, to try them out. I had a lot of problems with the plugins not working right. They would give black screens or freeze the system. I understand Hen was fairly new and all the kinks werent worked out. Ive read that some plugins conflict with other plugins, etc. I ripped a lot of game discs i had onto the ps3 hdd. I ripped most of them with multiman in JB folders, and ripped a few with Irisman as well. Not sure how many work or not but most of them will show up and mount to XMB with Irisman. But when i click on them in XMB I just get a black screen that doesnt do anything. Yesterday I wanted to start fresh with HEN so i deleted all the apps and plugins from the XMB. Then I flashed 4.87 hfw twice throught recovery and did the HEN install through the browser exploit. Then only installed Irisman back. Hoping having only one will allow smoother functionality. Then realized although i deleted the apps/plugins from XMB they must still have lingering files that could still be causing issues cause Sman still had an Icon in XMB. I watched a video how to remove webman/sman files and eventually got Sman icon removed. I still had same problem with black screen trying to load the game. I looked things up some more and read the ripping section of the HEN AIO guide and saw that its recommend to rip with Irisman in ISO format. So i tried converting a JB game folder into ISO using Irisman hoping the game might play that way. But it still shows black screen when trying to launch game from XMB.

I'd like some advice on what the problem or solution could be. Id like to completely start fresh with HEN and only install minimal plugins that are confirmed working/don't conflict with each other. Is the problem how I ripped the games or plugins not working properly? Is it possible to have a fresh HEN setup without completey formating the ps3? I dont really want to transfer the games off the PS3 hdd or rerip them but can if have to. Any help is appreciated thanks.

some games do not work well as JB folders. ISO is most compatable and is highly recommended.

Okay. I did convert one game from folders to ISO with Irisman, with no luck. But maybe reripping them again will help. Imma try to restore/reset the system and redo HEN with solid plugins.

I have several demo game pkgs that I would like to backup. How do I do this? Also is there a way for me to view my saved psn acc password through locating the file, etc. Can't remember it and dont have the email anymore. But would like to salvage that acc before I wipe the system.

Ok I'm reinstalling 4.87 ofw and reformating the system. Don't care too much about losing anything anyways. I'm going to reinstall 4.87 hfw and hen 3.02. Can someone suggest which plugins I should install that won't conflict with each other and work well on 3.02. I'm not much familiar with these plugins but they seem to do the same things for the most part. So should I just pick one like Irisman and not worry about others, manygunz, multiman, webman mod. Are these neccesary in other ways?

webman runs at all times in the background. it controls the fan and allows ftp at anytime (and many more features).

i use multiman to rip iso but managunz does it also in latest version.

I know there are different versions/fork of these plugins. Like the Webman Vanilla version. What versions of multiman and irisman should i use for 3.02? Links would be great. I dont think i need webman mod or manygunz.

Also, ive noticed a Error 404 when trying to download retro games in the hen toolbox. I installed the newer one for 4.87.

I looked it up and saw this post by NotOnlyEyes which refers to this issue.

I dont know how to alter the domain mentioned. Or do I download and install from the link listed? is that a fixed version?

Thanks for any help. I know all of you have limited time to work on these thing and do the best you can. I do look up issues i come across first, but some times i gotta post v.s. spending days figuring it out myself. So much kudos.

For multiman use the 4.84 hen by joonie version. it is the only one that does not have problems with NTFS drives. for others, use the latest versions. here is brewology's ps3 section sorted by newest first. notice that there are links to homebrew games, emulators, and dev stuff at top of list.

the links are correct in the 4.87 pkg BUT i think the retro games were removed from the server.

for me JB folders are enough since they practically work as an .ISO and they are supported by Multiman, Webman etc.. are you having issues with certain titles not working as a folder format?

You can use them, but you should know JB folder rips are no where near as good as ISOs, Folder rips can have thousands of files per game which leads to slower transfers, slower loading, more chance of a corrupt transfer, no possibility of using them on NTFS drives, and less compatibility.

ISOs have no real disadvantages except that they need to be split to put them onto FAT32 external drives (So do some folder rips due to files over 4GB). Converting folder rips to ISO is also super easy and only takes a couple of minutes.

Now that you mention it, I think that might be the case here. Thanks for the info.
