PS3 New HDD bootup problem

Hi, I've bought a new hdd to replace the old one on my ps3. I followed all the steps until the firmware was installed, once it reached 100% the console restarts and this is where the problem arises. Nothing appears on the screen, the console is turned on with the green light on, also the 4 lights on the pad turn on intermittently until after several minutes they turn off completely. I tried to insert again the old hard disk by following the same steps and the ps restarted normally. I tried to install the firmware from the safe menu but the result is always the same.

Which HDD are you using?. Is your PS3 on CFW?.

Maybe the HDD is faulty or has some unknown compatibility issues that we are not aware of.

Check disk condition on PC. At least S.M.A.R.T. short report.

BTW: 4K sector size disks cannot be used on PS3 (they will work on first but in time, user partition will go to hell). You need disk with 512 bytes sectors or so called 512e which is internal 4K translation.

我建议直接将数据从旧硬盘克隆到新硬盘。

I recommend directly cloning the data from the old hard drive to the new hard drive.

Mod edit: Provide an English translation along with your post.

EDIT: I've tried with another hdd and in this case everything went fine. So maybe it really was some compatibility issue.
