New PS3. Formatting It?

I'm thinking of buying a second hand and cheap ps3 that I've seen. Is there a problem if I format it before installing HEN (or CFW, if it supports it)? Or... is there any guide here on how to do the process of formatting and cleaning the PS3? I have not seen any...

If You don't need previous owner contents then You can go to recovery menu and choose Restore PS3 System.

The guide how to do that is inside official PS3 manual. :P

Ok, thanks. And that is like formatting the HDD? I guess that after that I will need to create a new profile and a new PSN account...

I don't remember now, maybe quick format or just deleting user data alone from HDD and Flash. But results in default account, default settings, no saves etc.

You should really check if it just happens that your new PS3 is already on CFW or has OFW <= 3.55, in which case you wouldn't want to install a new OFW.
