PS3 New To HFW/CFW Help 4.88 Updated System

So I have a brain injury and have a hard time understanding things. I have 4.88 OFW installed and would like to put on a HFW/CFW whatever I am capable of. I just need help and directions. I know someone jail broke my system once before with this method but I missed the process. Please be patient with me and try to help me out with the atmost details :)
 
Hi, first of all your PS3's capability for CFW depends on what model it is. As you can see from the subforum you posted this thread in, only slim models CECH-25xxx and below are compatible with CFW - however not all 25xxx slim models are compatible. All fat models are CFW compatible; conversely, all super slims are not.

See this jailbreaking guide by Coro which will help you jailbreak/patch your PS3's flash memory (if compatible) which will then allow you to install CFW.

The PS3 Toolset by bguerville which is accessed directly from the PS3's web browser, will allow you to see whether or not your console is compatible. If it was jailbroken previously using PS3Xploit then it will be able to be done again, even on OFW 4.88. Hope this helps :)

After loading the game you want to go online with (via webman, irisman, or multiman), you can use CFW tools or Webman to disable system calls (disables CFW system calls essentially) or something like PSN patch, will also accomplish the same task. There is no way to completely avoid risk, so proceed with caution. It will certainly help to minimize chance of ban though. It can never hurt making a dedicated PSN account for going online with CFW just in case you do get the account banned. That way you don't lose purchased games, especially if you use the same account to buy games on a ps4 or ps5.

I installed webman mod but having a hard time installing games. I figured out retro emulator but still not sure how to install ps3 games. On the old webman mod it was not a problem to install games (on the last cfw firmware) Not sure if you can help me (I have .pkg files multiple ones per game.)

**Also want to make sure I don't get banned What should I install for that. I was thinking sen enabler

Need help guys.How can I be sure if my slim model is CFW capable since BG Toolset doesn't work anymore. I bought used one from unknown person a week ago and I'm still learning about everything. Model is CECH 2503B Date code 1A. Software version 4.75, updated from me to 4.89.

It's unclear to me (since this model looks borderline), somewhere it is said that the maximum is 3.55 and somewhere 3.56 for CFW, so I would like to hear the word of an expert here because the risk due to a mistake is too big.

Well, I think you are in luck. Your Slim model is almost one of the last models to be fully hackable:

Unfortunately, as bgtoolset site got some domain name issues, at the moment you are not able to run the checks and the exploit in order to install CFW.

You will have to wait until the devs finish setting everything up.
 
I have read so far many meters of text from everywhere about jailbreaking and my low end and old brain single processor is more and more confused. A moment of internet or power failure in the cfw process can send the console to the eternal hunting grounds if I understand correctly. I would like to ask someone to recommend a good tutorial (video or text) for installing cfw without internet-via usb. Thanks in advance

Don't worry about the Internet issue. Thanks to Bgtoolset (which will be available soon), there are lots of checks in place in order to not only verify the console models but also the exploit process is really safe as it doesn't do anything that requires an always-on Internet connection.

As to bricking the console due to a power issue, that's always a risk that could happen regardless of the jailbreaking method. You are not safer by jailbreaking your console using a USB drive (which can in fact fails most of the time as the PS3 is too picky on which USB thumbs it likes).

My advice is for you to wait until the team release the Bgtoolset, just be patient. But, if you really need to jailbreak your console, then HFW + Hen is your only option at the moment.

how difficult is the process of uninstalling and transit from hen to cfw?
Is it very complicated? Will i have to format the drive and erase everything from it?
