First Look at the PlayStation 5 User Experience

Finally - here's a sneak peek at the PlayStation 5's user experience! Watch our new video walkthrough to see new features designed to make your gaming experiences more fun, engaging, personalized and social on the PS5 console.

Note: This walkthrough is set in a pre-production environment, so there may be some minor changes once the PS5 console launches in November.

Some pretty nice eye candy and a couple of clever features.

The "Activities" feature is something I really like. There have been countless times in games where I forget where I am, forgot what I was supposed to be doing, got swayed on some side mission etc etc. Various games in the past have had something like this where you can track progress, but having it baked into the system software is a real nice touch.
I don't like the "Official Game Help" part of it though... For PS+ members only...:mad: I feel another "Corporate Money Grubber" rant coming on.....

But I digress,
PIP (Picture In Picture) mode looks very much like a natural progression as we have so many live streaming platforms now. I could see some interesting scenarios where someone could host a Lets Play Party, where you can watch and play along at the same time, on the same screen, same game... Even just having it their to see your friend progress while you can carry on playing your own game is a very social thing to do. I like it. Especially if you've got headsets on and chatting too.

Jumping straight into multiplayer games your friends are playing is nice. I haven't played a huge amount of online games... But hasn't this done before? Or am I thinking of something that's been on PC?

The various media sharing features for screen records and screen caps isn't anything new. Although it's mentioned that the Ps5 is always recording the latest gameplay which is something I'm not sure I've heard of before...

The overall home screen layout, look and feel is nicely polished. Nothing ground-breaking in the GUI department, but still nice and clean.

With my fashionably late approach to console purchases, I look forward to getting one in about... 5.... 6.. maybe 7 years:D:rolleyes:

Me too. Unless there comes a bunch of really special exclusives like TLOU. But if exploit is discovered, then i will try to grab the particular models before Sony patches it.

Reason is pretty simple... I just can't afford it. So I wait until it becomes affordable, and also benefit from the used disc market.
I still get to play and save money too. Sounds like a winning formula to me

For me too, cost is one of the reason. Other reasons - Not much interest in gaming (as i used to be 10-15 years ago). Not really interested in system with too many restrictions (would prefer a PC). But yes, i still have interest in some special exclusives. If Sony's affiliated studios develop something special, i will keep an eye for it.

Also some other reasons. I would wait to see how successful is the hardware. Early models of new Gen consoles always have some kind of shortcomings which company fixes with time. With PS3 it was YLOD in early years. With PS4, it was BLOD & issue with APU & HDMI.

A stable hardware design comes after around 2-3 years of release (that's just my opinion). Console durability really gets tested only after consumer usage & feedback in early years. Apart from that, new generation games take time to develop. I think we have to wait couple of years to see some exclusives games that really shows what PS5 is capable of.
