But you can see that the security version in dev_flash/vsh/etc/version.txt has been increased, maybe related to psn authentication? I'll check the auth_plugin.sprx

i have a ps3 4.89 OFW i am using it normally for now but i would like to install HEN in the future, can i install 4.90 and continue to use it and then install HEN or does this latest firmware block the jailbreak?

the transition will not be so fast, the fact is that silk_webkit.sprx has been changed, and now there is nowhere to get the same one from (the new one is in Firmware_4.90\Part3\dev_flash_014.tar). The way out that I see is to take it from 4.46 firmware, but then you have to look for the vulnerability again. By the way, in 4.90 they changed it again, so the new hacking method that was invented by bguerville also needs to be improved.

I'm really interested to see where this goes. This new update really throws a wrench in our plans for LittleBigPlanet custom servers that we were planning to go public this coming Monday.

you never know. BUT they have not even tried for years so why now? there is probably one guy left at sony that works on ps3 updates. he may not have the ability to fix it.

SONY DOES NOT GIVE UP FOR YEARS AND MULTIPLE (5) FIRMWARE UPDATES.
TO THEN BLOCK SOMETHING

I DO NOT EVEN HAVE TO LOOK AT THE FIRMWARE AND I CAN TELL YOU NOTHING IS PATCHED.
WOULD MAKE NO SENSE, IF THERE IS IT WOULD BE LIGHT LIKE THE FINAL ATTEMPT in 4.83
There was nothing in 4.84 / 4.85 /4.86 /4..87 /4.89 and i would assume nothing has changed in 4.90.

Also, the PS3Xploit team does have additional exploits they have not used yet.
That is why bguerville had no issue using another exploit for the PS3 Toolset.
He could of just used the old 4.82 hole (that HFW does) but he used a new one because he had various ones on hand.

I've already talked to several friends who have a ps3 with the original firmware, and they really said that nothing changes, $ony practically didn't correct the graphic errors, it remains the same, I certainly think that in the next updates nothing will change, the only thing that will only be updated are the bluray keys for each PS3 console.
