PS3 Old head with 4.41 - need update help

I really need some help guys. I'm an old man, a legit old ass man.

I have a CFW installed its 4.41, I have a few apps and emulators installed but most do not work.

I'm trying to figure out how I can update my ps3 to the newest cobra firmware (i think thats what it's called) Most guides I see are for newer updates.

I tried to put the update.pup file on a usb stick and installing it in safe mode but it doesn't work, says no files were found.

I don't see an update option in the menus. I am overwhelmed when searching. If someone can just give me the high level or a suggestion on where to start I would appreciate it.

I'm on an OG 60GB model.
 
Try updating to any CFW 4.82 first and check that everything is OK, that you still are on CFW.

Then update to a greater version of CFW.
 
Yeah I ended up using a different drive, even though the original one SHOULD HAVE BEEN f32 from easeus partition manager, it lied. I was able to update my CFW. Now to try to figure out how to get the newest software and get my games loading. This is a nightmare I tell you what lol Thanks for responding to me!
 
One more quick question. I am very new to this community and I'm very confused. So, I have a 60GB launch day console, the one I was posting about prior. It's working with new CFW but it's running 65C at Idle and I know they both die to heat and the capacitor issue so I kind of don't want to use until the community better figures out how to save these, just in case.

I have a slim, that can only use HEN, and I have HEN working, and playing backups from USB drive, but I literally have no understanding of how its working, what combination of things I did to get it running the game, and the in game temp is at 40C.

What part of the forum can I go to to learn about HEN only mods and the like? I would like to better understand and install the things I need so I can replicate this. I have had many hours of frustration with multiman webman etc trying to get it to play a game.

Long story short - I want to install a larger internal drive and put my ps3 ISO on the internal drive. Could you direct me to the right location?

The launch models just need to be properly maintained. You need to open it up, clean all the dust inside and reapply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. If you're afraid you might mess things up, many retro game stores can do it for you as well.
