PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

That's again neither a fix, nor the root of the issue, but only a trigger!

Ok, now it's clear what you meant :encouragement:

Btw it's a weird one. After fixed one time it remain fixed (differrently from the Ferrari Challenge TP issue…). I even made a hdd (new sata III barracuda, 2,5" 1tb) for a friend and I checked the GT4 stutter, it was present. Solved it, then I sent the HDD to my friend, and stutter has not returned.

Interesting!

I think we can also say without a doubt that different setups can affect the compatibility of games as well, but most of it seem to indicate some small software-issues and probably can be fixed software-wise.

@El_Patas just merged PR 166 into the ifcaro-repo, so you guys should recompile OPL or wait for a new download and then test it out! :)

Pratically I sent him the HDD and the NA (a gamestar one). I set it up with my 39004 and my friend too had a 39004 with exactly same FMCB version as my.

However it happened to me one time (recently) to arise again the problem. It was when I changed the sata board on the SONY NA.

@sp193, i tested the NTSC-U version of the game State of Emergency with the r1229
and now works perfectly fine without nothing.
I have made three consecutive IGR's and also worked fine.

The PAL version works also fine without nothing as before.

Well i hope this change do not breaks other games.

About the problem of the change video mode confirmation screen seems that is fixed also.

Thank you very much for the work :applause:

Best regards

Well, I am certainly thrilled to see the test-results from the other guys.

Would you mind uploading a pre-built build (of the newest commit)? ;)

Please wait for #166, for State of Emergency.
Thank you, Hackerman.

Any news on the fixes for Shadow Man 2 and the Phantasy Star remake?

Also, I asked you this before, but I think you didn't notice: can you confirm the extra features of OPL (parental control, cheats, GSM, etc.) no longer affect game compatibility; we don't need vanilla builds anymore?

Thank you, Hackerman.
'Hackerman'®™ by @Grahf :-3

Yeah! Who's your booii (referring to a YouTube-'Meme')? SP193!

He deserves the fame, haha! :D
He's good at what he's doing.

can you confirm the extra features of OPL (parental control, cheats, GSM, etc.) no longer after game compatibility; we don't need vanilla builds anymore?
Erm... (do you mean) 'alter'?

I asked this before as well as @El_Patas!

Technically he/we can't give you a 100% conclusive answer because there could still be a bug hidden.

It is VERY unlikely that the 'Parental feature' in favor of the childproof-function will cause any game-incompatibilities (in-game)!

I am not sure about in-game-related functions like PADEMU, VMC, CHEATS, GSM... It is unlikely, but a bug can certainly still hide somewhere!

If you refer to the new r1229 is available in the repository.

Best regards.
Thank you!

You know... It's about those who can't or don't want to compile it on their own!

I haven't tested/played it thoroughly as of yet, but it does boot and I can start and play the game WITHOUT ANY MODES from the SSD!

I wasn't too far off, that this hardware/different setup-triggered issue can be fixed software-wise, tho'!

Tried with SONY NA + madiypower SATA board + 2tb 2,5" HDD = State of Emergency problem, definitively solved!

It perfectly works, keeping the boot time fast as new OPL builds (much faster then OPL 0.9.2).

However… after IGR I had the good idea to start Ferrari Challenge, and it obviously freeze. It seems that something remains in memory after performing a IGR, something that Ferrari Challenge doesn't like.
It seems that doesn't matter which game, even IGResetting from FC itself would cause the game to freeze at the 2nd loading screen

I would be quite interested, which games changed their behavior and need less modes now!

MAYBE some other games used that API-Call as well and could be affected!

I especially think of those games, which changed their Mode-behavior (other modes needed) since these old revisions (but other games as well)!

I'll do some tests.

Tried Half Life. I no more need MDMA 0 to fix the background buzz. Now the sound is crystal clear using UDMA 4.

Similar thing with DoA 2, I can use UDMA 4 (I had it to MDMA 0 before) without rasping sound (still need MODE 2,3).

So far it seems that DMA settings don't have bad effects anymore. I can see the difference in loading times as always (so i'm sure the DMA is working as it should), simply I can play all games in UDMA 4 without problems :D

Great! THX for your tests on other games @Peppe90!

So it does have an influence on other games as well! I hope only positive effects and no negative issues will occur.
I hope and think the fix should NOT cause ANY issues! :)

I did bet it has an influence! I hope more people can test it on more games!
I'd be very interested if this also could have an influence on those GameStar-Adapters, which need 'Mode 1' on some games, whereas the Sony-Adapter would/did not!

Possibly not, but it is still worth a try!
...and i really think there will be even more than the 2 games you (additionally) found, which need less modes (especially DMA/Transfer-modes!!!)!

Here is something that I can't understand?!
To "fix" buzzing sound in Half-Life you'll need to turn on PS2 logo
and have PAL game\console or NTSC game\console to enable it.
This "solution" should work with all devices (ETH, HDD, USB).
Not to enable MDMA\UDMA.

BTW this game also have problems with ESR:

Well, it might react differently due to the PS2 logo not being shown?

Does it have this kind of issue on HDLoader?

Simple... 'Does it also have this issue on HDLoader?!' ...and... 'Do the newest Versions fix this issue as well for USB and or other devices than HDD?' ...and... 'Maybe the PS2-Logo is needed for some games and they work differently, if it isn't shown!'! ;)

On another note: Thank you for those links! It seems that the coldboot-issue for OPL&ESR is some kind of FMCB-Issue (we already thought of that before) and this PS2-Logo and this fix might point to the cause of it in FMCB/FHDB!!!
