PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

With r1229 GT4 is fine using UDMA4 and Mode 1. No stuttering and it doesn't need a cold boot.

Using maxdiypower SATA board and 2Tb.

Edit: Damn it. It does stutter a little on the screen after the one @Peppe90 posted. I'll play around with it.

I did bet it has an influence! I hope more people can test it on more games!
I'd be very interested if this also could have an influence on those GameStar-Adapters, which need 'Mode 1' on some games, whereas the Sony-Adapter would/did not!

I don't remember differences between SONY and GAMESTAR NAs in using MODE 1... However I can tell so far, that it seems to only affect the DMA settings.

i.e. I tried Gungrave (it has an audio problem solvable with MODE 1) without MODEs, I seem to remember the audio glitch was more substantial, but I'm not sure... Anyway I still need MODE 1 to solve it.

@jolek I never used the Ps2 Logo in my entire life :D I set Half Life when using the BITFUNX Board or the Gamestar NA (with OPL 0.9.3), I just need MDMA 0 (all MODEs OFF, if I activate some MODEs as someone suggested, the buzz appeared…) to really fix the buzz (I could turn up the tv sound to the max and clearly hear the wind blowing or so, no buzz at all).

But now I can play it in UDMA 4 improving loading times. This is a good thing for Dead or Alive 2 too, it loads battle scenarios in a nanosecond with UDMA 4 :D

Lol... 1 line of code (but such an influence)! :D

Please guys! Test as many games as possible and even better, withbless modes!

Especially those which needed DMA-Modes or didn't work at all from some devices!

It really depends on what you mean saying "stutter a little". A very little stutter is normal (maybe it happens from the original DVD too, I'll test it Tomorrow). I'll upload a video ;)

The buzzing sound is present in my setup no matter what MDMA\UDMA mode I use, even in OPL 1229.
I've org NA without any mods.

You can check this game also through USB or ETH.
The main problem it'll be that you can't enable MDMA\UDMA through that devices...

Only PS2 logo helps to get rid of this buzzing sound on all devices.

BTW Does now GT4 do not need mode 6?

Really? Cool! It did work without it before as well! If it works without it again, that's great!

I never enabled MODE 1 on GT4. Never enabled nothing on that game. As I said I simply used to cold load the HDD with Ule once (to make the pad working without the need of MODE 6 and solve the stuttering). Then the game worked just perfect with that HDD (no need to cold boot or nothing particular anymore).

To see if something really has been solved I should make a new HDD. But since @Tupakaveli is experiencing the problem...

Lol well if I turn off Mode 1 the pad doesn't work :/

It's just a very tiny stutter when it's showing the track preview, it doesn't affect the gameplay in any way. To me it's fine.

I have the USA version of Half Life. Maybe it makes difference (?)

Absolutely NO.

Maybe we just test another game for the time being?

Any other games which do need alot of modes or slow DMA-Modes?

Maybe if you disable MODE 1 and enable MODE 6 the pad would work anyway…

However you shouldn't need any MODE to be enabled. Can you upload a video on YouTube with your preview stuttering?? I'll make one Tomorrow.

For example: What about 'Ace Combat 5 - Unsung War' and starting mission 6? I read it had issues since rev 726! ;)

...or does 'Aliens vs. Predator Extinction' still need Mode 2, to fix the Audio-Stuttering, etc.?

If you have PAL console and NTSC game, PS2 logo will not be shown.
If you've PAL console\game, NTSC console\game, PS2 logo will be shown and the buzzing sound will "vanish".

BTW PS2 logo needs to be enabled in settings.

I would please you guys to test some games with less or no modes, which do need either another DMA-Transfer-Mode or Mode 2 on older builds than ifcaro 1229!

I am certain that SOME of those could work well (or better) now!

I will create a short list of games which I suspect could give less issues now and try some of them as soon as possible!

Some of these are rather prominent like some Namco Collections, Devil May Cry Series, Ace Combat Series, ICO (from HDD)...
Maybe Beyond Good and Evil? Onimusha Blade Warrior? Prince of Persia Series? Who knows!

Just because a game loads with UDMA4 doesn't mean it's going to be perfectly fine. Time and time again, I had random freezes with UDMA4, whereas the same game would never freeze with MDMA0.

Also, with Mode 1, the DMA speed doesn't really matter since Mode 1 limits the speeds for accurate reads.

Interesting that we are once again getting differing reports on some games. In the end, I guess HDD model is important.

Someone should post a video of this "GT4 menu stutter" because it sounds weird.

Oh, and BTW, somebody should try UDMA2 with GT4. It helped me to remove stuttering in a different DVD9 game (but Mode 1 needs to be disabled to check this).
