PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Requests, suggestions, ideas

idk if this might be a good idea but can you make ps2 read ".gz" archives? and this would be great if ps2 still could read ".zso" game file inside this archive

I had to register to ask can you really seriously not do two basic things in OPL2:

1) Search your gamelist? I have over 100 games on my PS2's HDD which means it takes a sweet time browsing through the whole game list in OPL2 looking for a particular game when in any other similar application I could just press a button to search what I'm looking for.

2) Use an attached USB keyboard to rename games, input text in settings, etc.? I seriously have to use only the PS2 gamepad to go through an on-screen list of symbols one by one to input text into fields with no way to even go back on inputted text without erasing it entirely?

These are two very egregiously missing features I'm absolutely puzzled on how these have not been implemented in the years this app has been in development. Please, very seriously consider making these two priority #1 and #2 on your to-do development list.

Some people have more than 1000. You can Use L2 (list beginning), R2 (list end), L1 (back one page) and R1 (forward one page) to quickly browse.

Also when you decide to play throughout a game, you can enable the "remember last game + autostart function" (set the time to 1 for the quickest possible, you'll still be able to cancel the start by pressing the up/down arrows as soon as the gamelist appears), so if you have OPL setted as autolaunch in FMCB, you'll just have to power on the Ps2 and the game you're playing will automatically start as if having the disc inserted.

Can we make the theme sound effects interrupt, for instance I just put up a theme I found that has PS4 theme sound effects and when scrolling my list it plays the full loop of it when going past multiple games etc.

Is the Audio Settings option for Default Theme Music actually functioning? How can I add an audio file to my OPL for theme music?

Yes, you can do all of this, however it does not alleviate the actual issue, just goes around it with unncessary complexness. It's also not just about being able to remember what game I was playing last time, but just to being able to instantly even find a game for simply seeing do I already have it installed or to test it or do whatever else with it.

Audio Settings option for Default Theme How can I add an audio file to my OPL for theme music?

background music on OPL tutorial

Convert sound file to .ogg format and title it bgm

Move file into thm_ folder of choice into a "sound" folder

Use OPL grimdoomer 5/27 to enable background music for the custom theme

Disable cover art so the file won't stutter

I see. For that issue you have to pay attention to the program you use for installing. I think newer installers prevent you from installing a game twice by checking the ID (if a game ID is already present the program won't install it).

The old HDL dump helper GUI didn't had this check, it checks the game titles (I once installed the same game twice indeed, since I had two isos of the same game just named differently when installing).

If I correctly understood you'd want some kind of research bar, where you input a characters and get the corresponding results.
Even so you'd have to correctly remember how you named the games, unless the searching algorithm is smart or if you make sure to use the database names.

PADEMU:
- Use Wiimote as a Lightgun to play PS2 games like Time Crisis, Virtua Cop, Vampire Night, etc and if possible also compatible with POPStarter PS1 Lightgun games (There's a bunch).
The cool thing of using Wiimote is that way we can play those lightgun games on LCD Screens, Guncom and generic guns only work with old CRT Tube TVs.

For POPS is another story, currently it doesn't has support even for the official Guns. I talked about this with @Hugopocked time ago. He said he might be able to implement the compatibility but it is not easy for him to find a G-Con for the testing.

I'd like to see online netplay multiplayer support for OPL, have network drivers loaded with some basic delay based netcode to allow for 2 player games to be synced with inputs over the internet. This would be amazing for games that never had online play, puzzle games and fighting games.

Possible is Wi-Fi USB dongle support?

Is too hard find a confiable ethernet adapter for PS2 FAT today, losing great features of OPL. I'm find only this SATA adapters without LAN port.

Dynasty Warriors XL and Samurai Warriors XL need disc swap to import data from the other disc. So, IMO the disc swap could be awesome and welcome addition.

Hello, I apologize in advance if my proposal has already been considered before.
Is there a possibility of adding 240p mode (NTSC-NI to NTSC-I field) to the GSM menu?
There are many PS2 games that I love to play on my CRT and NTSC-NI to NTSC-I field eliminates flicker and adds scanlines; Games like Marver vs Capcom 2, The King of Fighters, and Metal Slug look fantastic with this setup; However, I must use OPL 0.9.3 and cannot take advantage of many of the new features.
Thank you so much.

idk if it has been asked before, but would it be possible to select a "user" on startup? What it would do is set a global override for all games to use the selected user's vmc('s) and possibly also hide age-restricted games. It would be really handy when you want to let a friend or nephew play without worrying about your own memory card getting full and also to make sure that you can't accidentally overwrite another one's save file.

Hello everyone!
Is the possibility of adding a feature that allows customizing the 'logo.png' without having to recompile the OPL myself?
I was thinking of something like, if there's a '/BOOT/logo.png' or '/THM/logo.png' file in some storage location, it gets loaded, otherwise, it keeps loading the default 'logo.png'.

Otherwise, I have a new logo suggestion:
dDzPtHb.md.png

im using OPL in an arcade cabinet and i leave the it on the menu, to avoid burn in a screensaver would be nice
something with a customizeble picture, not just a black screen :)
