PS2 OPL freeze on black screen when launching a title

As far as I can tell, you need to use uLE or wLE to run an installer to set FHDB up. As my HDD is formatted to exFAT, this becomes impossible due to wLE's inability to read exFAT.

Thank you so much for the advice though! I will definitely look into it if/when wLE is updated to be able to do so. :D

I followed the video to a t. I got it to show up as "mass1" but this directory just shows up empty. This directory should be showing my exFAT HDD with all the games and the files to get FHDB set up

Also, the FHDB installer doesn't recognize my hdd. So I guess I'm out of luck. thank you for your help and ideas, and lmk if anything comes to mind

As I said, I haven't used it, I would like to test it, you know, but for the moment I'm sticking with FAT32.

@TnA
I based it on the characteristics in the link I posted.
If I'm wrong, I appreciate you telling me.
which is the truth and how does it support it?

wLE only supports exFAT on external media and is available since a decade or so... exFAT support is maybe 2 years old.

So it should read my exFAT HDD?

I did realize that one screw of my network adapter isn't fastening, so I'll try to get that fixed and will try again

I understand your confusion since we were talking about both internal and external hard drives.
And in what he points out to me, I was referring to external media (see video).
So since it was launched it did not have EXFat support, how do I verify that information?

EDIT: Although it is worth mentioning that if the first release did not have this support it does not mean that the intention
of the author was not to provide it, although if he had not had it there would be no releases with this support.
The only way to check it and get to the truth is for the author himself to answer this enigma, but it is very non-participatory.

exFAT support Was introduced into the SDK after 2021...
wLE exists since a decade or so...

That should be verification, but maybe @Acid_Snake will come here and confirm it. Why him? He ported the driver which has exFAT support.

...or... The simple solution... Download an old wLE and check if it can read exFAT on USB.

But that doesn't solve the puzzle.
The question is, when WlaunchELF was released, even if it did not have "exfat", was it planned for future versions?
That would solve the enigma.

No. Wasn't planned... It simply got the name, because the project (uLE) got pick up by new developers.

SP193 picked it up back then. He's not really around that much anymore.

Pretty much any active developer can tell you that exFAT was discussed, but not "planned" and certainly not at the time when SP193 picked up uLE.

Btw.: Does the official wLE even support exFAT these days?
I thought it was only @El_isra's "wLE ISR" that does.

Something like "witnesses"?
Then it will be taken with a very rigid evaluation criterion since the author's response was very important.
I didn't know there were two versions.
Of course we are talking about the one found in the link I provided where the author is @El_isra, right?

  • Launchelf: original project by mirakaichi
  • uLaunchELF: continuation by EP and dlanor (u stands for unofficial)
  • wLaunchELF: continuation of uLaunchElf by sp193 and akuhak (w stands for double unofficial)

@El_isra
Thank you for your cooperation.
@TnA
In the absence of the author @sp193 I give you the benefit of the doubt and lean in your favor.
So I can conclude that "exfat" support was discussed at the beginning of WlaunchELF but was planned later when implemented in future versions.

All the more reason to lean in favor of @TnA.
and I still give him the benefit of the doubt since just because no one has done anything before doesn't mean the author hasn't thought about it before.
