And before you ask, yes I already followed the guide here: (ps2-home.com is down atm, so I can't find the link)

The steps I followed were:
1.check to make sure Both OPL and free MC boot were up to date
2. Check that the required files were in the 'POPs Folder
3. check the MD5sum of pops_iox.pax and popstarter:
4a39d44dfb477ea747f5ca5e39ee011e *K:\\POPS\\POPSTARTER.ELF
a625d0b3036823cdbf04a3c0e1648901 *K:\\POPS\\POPS_IOX.PAK

4. Try the latest and stable build of opl . (v1.1 and v1.2.0-Beta-1802-bc29da3)
5. check to make sure all the disc images are named properly.
6. Try a separate ps2/Mc/ OPL install
7. Double check all the file names.
8. toggle the 'applications' menu.

As far as I can tell, it should be working, and it worked for me in the past.

Here are a few pics of my setup/config: https://imgur.com/a/rMZfSQF

Since you're using OPL version 1.0, you have to set POPS as a homebrew app. You can't use OPL DB method on OPL 1.0.

I tried both 1.1 and the latest 1.2 beta, has this feature been removed in all the later versions of OPL?
Because I was pretty sure the guide I was following was for a later version than 0.9

POPStarter feature was absent in OPL 1.0 because their developer are refused to do so. Meanwhile, OPL DB are developed by different group.

So it's 2024 now and I tried following this guide:

Unfortunately I still cannot get playstation 1 games to work. I'm using the official 1.0 OPL, but I don't have that snazzy menu or startup logo, and I most definitely don't have the ps1 game tab. Is there a different build of OPL I need? Where would I get it? (Preferably somewhere other than ps2-home)

I would really love to have PS1 games working on my Fat PS2, and would love them to be listed in a tab just like PS2 games are. I also want that swank new GUI. Any advice for me?

Thanks!

Charles.

A relevant workaround to this issue is to launch the .elf of the PS1 game from the ULaunchElf application and not OPL. That's what I did to get my PS1 games to work.
