I don't get it, really!

For years a hack was published that does exact the same.

Yep 100% true. This is just the patch discovered by Mysis, with no credits given.

That "Hack" doesn't work on newer CFW's. I tried it, it refused to work on REBUG 4.80.1 or ones after. It just crashed my PS3. In fact non of the "hacks" I found from the past work on newer CFW's

I'm sure you know this is false, the original patch still works fine.

P.S. Maybe you should credit Mysis for this and not you and your team. All you did was apply someone elses patch with a HEX editor.

Hmm considering a tried many of the old gameboots that are out there before making this. And considering that it was because of the the lower FW SPRX that it do not work on higher FW. which is why I used a newer SPRX.

Not once did I say the old hack does not work..... they don't work because of the the older SPRX they use muppet... the suposed "KING" of XMB modding should know that not all older version SPRXs will work on newer FW. If they would then all people would need to do is use the SPRX from 2.80 to have it back.....

To me the way you say the old hack does not work, then dont credit anyone who made the patches originally, it makes it seem like you are taking more credit than just applying someones else's patch with a hex editor.

Normally people dont plaster their name all over it and write themselves into the credits. Its a free world, you can do it, but dont get pissy when someone calls you out on it.

When I posted here the first time I believed that you had discovered a new patch and also I had not read the entire thread, I was just posting the pre retail files.

I have not changed what i have issue with one bit, My point since the start was that this is just the patch discovered by Mysis.

Let me present you "proof one" in the name of psx-place lawyers bufette

https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Patches#Enforce_gameboot_animation
The patch is made by replacing 2 bytes in game_ext_plugin.sprx

I dont remember who found the patch, but it was made with IDA by reverse engineering the .sprx functions
The samples in psdevwiki of that patch applyes to a few specific firmwares
If at some point sony updated the .sprx is posible that values could change, in that case you need to open the old version of the .sprx and the new one, dissassemble both and compare them to identify the function that was patched in the sample in wiki

Also, this method im explaining can be used to "port" the patch to other old firmwares... what you cant do is to take a .sprx from a firmware version and use it in a different versions, this usually doesnt works... and if the difference in between firmware versions is too big (lets say using a sprx from firmware 2.00 in 4.84) you can be almost 100% sure that is not going to work

I would have to look in IDA to what the patch does on CFW, cannot remember off the top of my head and I have no idea where my notes have gone on it.

I know perectly well where the patches are as this is my work here.

@sandungas : I think it's pretty obvious that he is trying to make out this is his work when he is saying 'By me, thanks psx-place, and the old hacks dont work, tried them all'

I guess if "Team Cypher" had some of their own releases I would say it was just a mistake, but when this gameboot mod is the teams entire catalog of hacks then it kind of stands out as a little bit misleading.

Really though I'm just jealous that he has a whole team and I have to do all my own testing

No, someone could look at the PS3HEN source and do a RAM patch for it, not my area though.
