PS3 Partial rlod

Marketflea

Hello there,

So, model L04. Found in the flea market for 7 dollars. Arrived to the table, turned on and it made the common vaccum cleaner sound as if the fan was in exhaust mode, reduced itself, shut off and blinking red light. From the standby green direct to the red light in about two seconds. Second time, power up, stable fan a few seconds ( about 15 ) more and red light.

Dismantled, most dust I have ever seen in a digital machine. Cleaned plastics, pcb, cleaned the fan and 6in1 to the fan, same for blueray drive. 80gb hardrive. New thermal paste, assembly and the console boots sometimes into the first menu about formatting, I think. Consoles sometimes boogs as well into the no disk menu without the harddrive. Reverse fan mode as to clear dust works. Fan works, I think. Harddrive as well in theory, did not test on pc. Recently, when the console boots, it can stay in a sort of standby without loading anything, ni video signal. Other times, it manages to boot for a few seconds and then red light. No blue light, no yellow light. Just standby from green to red. Even when in the initial info screens like empty drive, no blue light and a few seconds, red light.

So, its not a ylod. Its not the hardrive, I think. The blueray player is a bit busted but I think its not giving about this error. If you leave the console in reverse fan mode, its on for a minute or more and then red light.

Should I place more thermal paste? Nec/token has no thermal pads. Add paste or thermal pads to the nec/token? Not good contact with the heat sink? More paste? Ideas?

Thanks in advance. No tools to test this week, cannot check output, can try to heat up hair dryer style the necs and cpu/gpu.

Well, no more worries. I was doing some afternoon schooling, went desperate for results, reflowed, didnt test and actually put the thing in the oven without thinking even after reflowing. Didnt check temps and everything popped out while I was talking to another person, cell, gpu and rsx are beyond repair. A few chipsets seem to be intact, caps, maybe. hdd, br and psu are fine. What a shame.

Next time I will wait till I reach home. Damn it, I really wanted to use it as an emu station on an old crt I have in the garage.
