Persona 4 Arena region lock

Does CFW bypass the region lock? I don't want to waste money on a r1 copy if it won't play on my modded CECH-2504.

And yes, I know that generally PS3 games are not region locked, but this specific one is.

Well, u could try an iso before.
Anyway it should be easy to bypass the region lock as it should be based just on console model and maybe datacode, so..

Maybe @aldostools could implement an on the fly patch to fake the console model via webman when a region locked game is inserted (via an hardcoded database - if there are other region locked games) or disabling / bypass check of vsh

all you need to do is to edit the param.sfo to close the region lock.
 
Uploading a patched PARAM.SFO for US version of Persona 4 Arena. Overwrite the one in your game directory to make it region free.

But I'd still be really glad if we could make it work from the original disc.

U need someone to find a patch for that, and maybe add that patch to a cfw @Evilnat may be able to do it

Can you tell me if you get any error message when loading the disc game?

EDIT: This one? I don't get this message with TargetID, VSH and Kernel on DEX

This software cannot be started due to region restrictions.

Well, that's because Persona 4 Arena was virtually the only PS3 game that was actually region locked. Apparently back when it was released in 2012 the Japanese Yen exchange rate was extremely high, leading to the game being ~50% more expensive in Japan than in the US and Europe and they were concerned about massive reimports.
(Technically there was one more region locked PS3 game, "Joysound Dive", which was Japan exclusive, digital only game and has been removed from the Japanese PS3 store several years ago so it's effectively unobtainable now, at least legally).
