PlayStation 2 Basic BootLoader

PS2 PlayStation 2 Basic BootLoader v1.2.0

PS2 firmware will not run OSD Update from MX4SIO. So it is technically not possible until You will hack firmware which means not only modifying it but replacing ROM chip by something writable to write back CFW.

On MX4SIO can be placed applications and resources. But take in mind that majority of applications does not support MX4SIO because it wasn't exist in time when they were developed, along to nowadays BDM drivers.

FYI: MX4SIO is not memory card adaptor, it does not replacing it. And it was developed due to crippled i.Link (FW400) and very slow USB 1.1, so consider MX4SIO as pendrive etc. but connected to SIO instead to USB-A.

Support for namco arcade systems (aka: system 246, aka: system 256, aka: COH-H models) coming soon!

to use it as a bootloader the only thing left for the user will be encrypt it and bind to the desired security dongle!
and also you will need to find the misterious ACJVLOAD.IRX and add it in one of the LOAD_IRX_E# config entries

Good day folks.

I have a PS2 slim with modbo chip installed v1.93 .. I want to setup a drive on router SMB server.
I willing to try this method. Can I configure network connections with this software. At present the modbo chip is only there to allow the use of the various other region disks backup copies etc. I want to put the library of games I have on HDD and play from there ... Thereby saving the laser which has already been replaced. 1999 or so.There is no fmcb or other boot options installed as yet.

this is a bootloader. not a game launcher.

SMB settings are done on OPL.

I am looking for a simple solution to boot and load PS2 slim and access smb server from it. The way I understand things so far is that you don't need FCMB with Modbo chip. How can I load my PS2 and get to opl without using fcmb.

AHH got it guys .. I must first make a bootdisk dvd or cd. Boot the ps then copy files to memcard .. then configure SMB and finally I should be able to boot using Modbo and memcard.

Posted in the Discord but also posting here in case anyone comes in off Google with a similar problem.

Is there something I need to do to get PS2BBL (I'm on v1.2.0) to read an updated config file?

I had initially set auto for OPL, R1 for wLE, and down for POPSLoader. I open the config file in wLE to add DKWDRV to Triangle but it's not reading it. It's acting like I'm not pressing the button, the text isn't popping up to confirm that it read a button press.

I thought maybe it was a problem with me using a DualSense with the Brook adapter so I went in and added it to L1 and Up and it's still acting like it's not reading either.

Edit: Typo in configuration file. Whoops.
