PS5 PlayStation 5 ROM keys leaked

Did that actually happen?

2 days ago (02\01\2026):
The PlayStation 5's ROM keys have allegedly been leaked, meaning anyone who can get their hands on the hex strings now has the hardware code that will allow jailbreakers to try decrypting and analyzing the console's bootloader. According to The Cybersec Guru, this is an unpatchable problem for Sony, because these keys cannot be changed and are burned directly in the APU. The only way that the company can invalidate the leaked codes is to replace the chips on yet-to-be-manufactured units, meaning consoles that are already in the wild could possibly take advantage of future jailbreaks stemming from the use of these leaked codes.

I believe it is still very long journey before we will see any exploits for new PS5 Slim/PS5 Pro models. If this would give us the possibility to run physical PS3 games (I think Sony is already working on the PS3 emu on PS5, but working probably not the way we wanted to have), that would be great information

Cloudberry Kingdom but it's 2D only as far as I know, I didn't see any intro loading screens with the online footage to see if it handles fmv.

Yea, I heard about this game, that it somehow utilizes the PS3 emulation when running on PS5, but afaik it uses "proprietary" ps3 emulator (written specifically for this particular game)

Well, this is for sure one step forward in discovering jailbreak for new PS5s, but the availability of this exploit completely rules it out. What we can do right now is to be patient and monitor jailbreaking scene for PS5 in next years (maybe months). I am no guy who knows how to hack system on such low-level, but this lv0 security breach which is bootROM keys leak seems to be a promising sign.
I only hope that some day we will see the way to play PS3 from physical disks - power-wise, PS5 outruns a PS3 by a mile and despite completely different CPU architecture which PS3 has, software emulation still should be at least satisfactory.
