PS2 Playstation One Games

Ok so I am confused as hell and there's a lot of conflicting information out there. Can a PS2 running OPL play PS1 games from a USB drive? Yes, I know the PS2 is backwards compatible with the PS1 but it's at a non profit community center aka we have no fliping money to buy games, everything is donations. I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out how to do it and the video I just followed didn't work because it's 4 years old. So, is it actually possible? Could it run on a MX4ISO because that would be a lot easier unless it has to be FAT32.

Thanks. I'll look into later this week.

You can launch PS1 games through POPStarter (+POPS):

If you want to launch games directly look for wLE_kHn_20200810 in the attachments.

I am confused about renaming the .elf file. You only have one file, do I just download it multiple times?

I give up. This is way to fucking complicated, it should be put the fucking files in the pops folder and that's it. Every .elf file just crashes, what's the point of having a pops folder included in OPL if it doesn't work. Is there some setting I am missing or something? I just found the application start mode and turned that to manual but that didn't work.

Which file you have in mind? POPSTARTER.ELF?
If yes, then you can download it many times or simply copy this file it in the same folder:

Shortly after you can rename it to e.g. XX.Vikings.ELF.
Next file to XX.Crash.ELF, etc.

OPL means Open PS2 loader and this app is for launching PS2 games, not PS1.
Did you bother yourself to read:

You also need this additional file in POPS folder: POPS_IOX.PAK - MD5 checksum: a625d0b3036823cdbf04a3c0e1648901.
Search for it e.g. using DuckDuckGo, Google, etc.

Here is how your POPS folder might looks like:

When you have all the file just launch an ELF file (e.g. mass:/POPS/XX.Diablo.ELF).
