PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

I have a PS3 version 2511A, I would like to know which overclocking versions I would be good at? If anyone has the links for me to download and test, I would really appreciate it, I'm currently on the 600/750
2511A seem to be the highest overclockers here. But yeah try in 50 increments. Do not do higher than 950 on the memory. Unless you want to risk a brick.

Sorry to have kept you waiting.

Interesting, I will try it.

Any news ? I also have a bricked 2004 unfortunately.
The fact that you possess a hardware flasher is reassuring.

Thank you very much, man!

it seems that I am stable at 900\1000, I am very happy with the result. but a longer test is needed.
950\1000 causes a black screen.

does anyone know how dependent ps1 and ps2 games are on the rsx clocks?

We need a cpu overclock right now so badly. That's what's holding us back. Cpu is such a problem.
Wouldn't cpu clock be tied to game fps in some games? Like GTA was tied to fps in PS2 or all older games on older consoles

Or rather games speed

From my experience, it does nothing on PS1/PS2 emulation. Games like Drakengard 1 (yep, Drakengard again) still have slowdowns. Since we can't use any FPS counter, it's more a feeling than a tangible analysis.
That's not a big issue, since even PS2_netemu is satisfying with all the config files.

To see if artifacts occur try need for speed shift 2 unleashed to me it seems like it's the only enemy hahahaha all my other games don't artifact but shift 2 unleashed does the most.
Unfortunately my ps3 freezes even on 600/750 in shift 2(((( it's very sad(frankie cecha00 40nm) Ill try on my slim later. I got freeze during firmware update…..

I reverted stock clocks! Fortunately I had freeze during firmware checking step)) I've waited for 15 minutes, switched off ps3, switched it on, I got firmware update step. After shift 2, I've started to get freeses in xmb. Is it ram overheating?

What should a 2501A be able to do? Im running the 600-750 right now. Gonna repaste it later today before i go any higher.

The firmware you plan to use should not already be OC patched or it won't work.

Yes, I use the latest beta myself ! It's as simple as that.

That's fantastic, so make sure to use non-OC firmware as a base - thank you so much for the information it's exactly what I was after. I've been running Evilnat's 4.89 with 600Mhz/750Mhz for a good while now with great results. I think I'm going to try an incremental 650Mhz/800Mhz increase on his latest 4.91 to see how the results are and go from there. I really appreciate the info!

Do you have a certain game or app that you use as a good benchmark of sorts?

I have a fully backwards compatible PS3 Cecha01 with the Frankenstein mod, voltage at .95v thermal pads replaced with 10 w/mk pads original CMOS battery replaced with CR2032 battery. Is this going to be okay to overclock or should I keep it normal?

I know you guys have probably heard this question too many times, but if I have maxed out my possible core clock, is it worth continuing with increasing memory clocks?

so… as i have the same freezes in xmb with stock clocks, it looks like it's just dying frankie :(

Would you have time to export the SYSCON log before it freezes ?

Crysis, AC4 Black Flag, Shift 2 Unleashed to verify artifacting.
Heavy/intensives games like The Last of Us, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance or Red Dead Redemption to verify stability (crashes. But it concerns 20XX models more).
Unlocked framerate games like BioShock Infinite to see how it performs.

just bought a January 2501B and easily do 900 core 950 memory fully stable:D
Wow, nice acquisition ! :)

I bought two now. One does 850/975 stable and the other 900/975 stable. Im searching for all of them my goal is to have 10 plus slims that do 850 or higher.

do you make a video test?
i see a good video on yt about ps3 OC and it say = not do more then 100mhz overclock.
because if u have instable system is impossible reflash without hw flasher.
but we have 2 slot. and i have understand is possible do slot change. why not add a possibility to switch fw slot with ps3 keycombo on start? for avoid brick?
