Hi, newbie here. I wanna ask how to do the harddisk replacement without backing up the previous data?
My previous HDD is broken, and now I wanna install it from the start using Evilnat CFW 4.91. I've already watched some guide about it, but it's constantly freezed and when I try to open Multiman it's always freeze in black screen. I've also already disable the automatic fan speed.

Any clear guide to do this?
Thanks a lot!

If you change the HDD to a new one it is completely empty at first. If you want to transfer the data from the old to the new one you would need to make a backup first before changing the HDD.

If you don't mind about the old data, this is what I did (minus the backup and restore):
  1. Download OFW firmware: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps3/system-software/
  2. Copy firmware to a FAT32 formatted USB stick to /PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP.
  3. Replace HDD: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+3+Slim+Hard+Drive+Replacement/3223
  4. Connect the update USB stick to rightmost USB port.
  5. Start PS3.
  6. On PS3: Format new HDD, Install system software from the USB.
  7. Jailbreak and install CFW.

You essentially will have to start from scratch because you did not have a backup of your game data. You start with OFW, and then PS3Toolset to jailbreak, install evilnat etc.
