PS1 games playing on PS2 slim often shows black screens

I own a PS2 Slim (SCPH-70004) connected to my tv with the PS2 to HDMI adapter, and I tried to launch Tekken 3. The game boots up normally but can't show the intro cinematic: in fact, the HDMI signal gets lost during the intro but comes back when I skip it or when it ends. While the game plays fine, the problem gets worse with Ridge Racer 4.
The game also have the same intro problem, but the signal gets lost as well when starting a grand prix, and mashing buttons doesn't help.
I'd also like to note than when booting up a game (PS2 or PS1), the signal briefly gets lost between the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo and the PlayStation logo.

Any idea on how on fix this?

From what I've found the PS2 to HDMI adapter supports 240p so it may be my tv. Is it possible to get my tv to support 240p?

Yes, kind of, by using composite cable (At least on my HDTV does). It was a downgrade, but if your HDTV manufacturers decided not to support it through component, then it's the only way I'm afraid.

My tv does supports composite but I can't get any signal which is why I switched to HDMI, maybe the cables are damaged so I may check to buy new ones when I can

Any luck with DKWDRV ?

PS2HDMI Fix for PS2 HDMI dongles. Despite being called this way it can be used for all cases when component fails to display anything right after PS1 boot logo or right after it.

Your plain generic PS2 HDMI adapter only output up to 480i display but lacks 240p and even RGB signal which is really essential for PS1 titles.

You may want to find another PS2 HDMI adapter that have RGB signal output eg. Pound adapter or just using good quality PS2 SCART cables and connected with SCART RGB to HDMI converter box.

Not this one:

It works just fine. Set the PS2 to YCbCr and it will even output up to 1080p (with GSM and degraded colors).

It is detected as a component cable by the PS2 and supports all PS2 progressive scan modes.

Degraded colors huh? That's uncomfortable way to enjoy PS1 titles on PS2.

Again, throw away that cheap junk PS2 HDMI adapters and buy something better that is at around $20 and above. Cheap junk PS2 HDMI adapters have no way to outputting RGB signals, only YPbPr and such GSM solution is only merely a workaround but hindering the good PS1 gaming experience.

Only in 720p and 1080p is the color degraded because the PS2 itself drops color depth.

480p looks great, especially with GT4. This thing looks way better than you would expect. Even better than my Wii's Sewell HDMI adapter. It also requires a USB port for extra power and works fine in my PS2's second USB port.

No way am I throwing it away unless it stops working. Also, it works on my PS3 and looks just as good as HDMI. I know it sounds odd, but it's true. I don't need it for PS3, but wanted to see if it would work and what the quality would be.

Watch this in fullscreen on PC/Smartphone, or on an HDTV for the best clarity if possible:

Better you should get a better ones either from Kaico/Bitfunx/RetroScaler or mid-tier ones eg. GBS-C or OSSC or high-ends like RetroTink or Frameister. I have one of these before and it doesn't last long.

Even I have both SCART RGB to HDMI adapter and YPbPr to HDMI adapter, I'm still can't fathom with super jagged lines on flat LCD panels.

I would like to get some of those maybe in the future, or when they get a price-drop.

I also updated my comment that you quoted.
