facebook marketplace. this site doesn't allow for buying and selling. facebook marketplace, unlike ebay, has no fees unless you ship through them. it's far better than ebay, which charges 15% by default, so some scalping prices are understandable, especially if they offer free shipping. though, they still tend to be ripoffs. lol

edit: don't let them lowball you, stand your ground. I've sold everything but my n3ds xl majora's mask edition and gba majora's mask addition so far, as far as hacked consoles go. it may take some time, but that's what I'd suggest.

Thanks for the advice! I am new to all of this.

What would be a fair price for the labor only to install these on PS2 Slims?

- ModBo 5.0 (70k-75k)
- ModBo 5.0 (79k-90k)
- IDE HDD (70k)
- Install Gusse's "Ide Reserector" (70k)
- Internal MX4SIO (75k-90k)
- Internal Blue Retro HW2 (All)
- Install Gusse's "Methylene" (All)
- Install an "ElectronAnalog" (All)
- Install a "Retro G.E.M." (All)
- Ultra Slim (Complete Full Basic Build)
- A basic refurbish of a PS2 slim.

I couldn't say. I usually look at what's selling, sometimes on eBay, rather than what people are asking. That's where people F%$# as far as selling goes, relying on what people are asking.

Oops. Whose the dummy who didnt read the rules... this guy!!

some sites allow it, but I think psx-place doesn't want to be responsible if someone gets burned. anyway, what people are asking is a much greater indicator of what you should ask. I see a lot of people trying to scalp stuff on ebay, and most of the time, they get no where near what they're asking, and that's not only because eBay takes 15%. believe me, eBay is rip off central when it comes to selling stuff. it's taken more time with facebook marketplace, but I've always gotten what I asked or near it without any fees for everything I've sold, which is almost all my hacked systems. it's far better. you can probably buy stuff for less on there too considering, especially if you look up local stuff.

sorry for the triple link, but I may have a buyer for my majora's mask gba sp backlit (I've already sold the everdrive to it). I'm selling it for $175 on facebook marketplace. it took a while, but someone is paying me what it would be on ebay minus the 15%. after this, I'll only have the n3ds xl as far as hacked consoles go. it's a majora's mask model with box, which I'm trying to sell for $450. I've had some interest, but no one has offered yet.

Thanks a lot! That really helps me understand this better.

I don't want to rip anyone off, but I do want to see my builds go to someone who will appreciate them and help me fund my next project. It's honestly humbling when someone is willing to pay for your work.

What I'm tired of seeing on Etsy and eBay is the sale of consoles with just an FMCB card and a USB stick loaded with 500 games for $400. I don't offer games—just aesthetics and solder work on a refurbished console. I like to provide what people don't want to do themselves, which is the soldering, building, painting, and so on. That's the part I love doing.

There is a dude on Etsy that does some flippin' sweet paint jobs on the PS2 FATs. Ill prolly buy one from him, mod it and sell it for time and parts.

Just a little about where I'm coming from....
I'm new to the modding community and I get so excited when Voltair, Tito, Gusse, ModsvilleUSA, Artemis, DarthCloud and others release another video/mod. I watch them over and over (Tito is my favorite!). I am blown away by the developers and their talent and what they share (psx-place, ps2home, bitbuilt). The members helping each other out (like you), just awesome!!

craigslist can also be a good resource.

The thing is most people only care about games, so that's why those listings are so common. Only a certain segment will care for the more specialized mods. As such you'd probably be better off combining multiple mods into one package and selling that as a whole, rather then attempting to sell each mod piecemeal.

And if you're willing to branch out from PS2, you'd probably have success offering things like RAM upgrades for the OG Xbox, modchip installs for 360, etc. I.e. things that are a pain in the ass even when you know how to solder.

...

When it comes to strictly labor that all comes down to how much you value your time.

I am starting to realize this. I might have a much smaller market than I thought. I'm trying to offer an enhanced experience with a well loved console. I guess thats what fascinates me the most about this. Things like loading games faster, portability, using PS4 controllers on a PS2. "But these consoles go to 11.." (I feel like the spinal tap guy in this video and other gamers are like the interviewer, ha ha ha!!!)

Some one has to feel me on this one, right?

I got myself a facebook account. Just for marketplace. sigh.

I actually use my mom's facebook account for marketplace. I understand how you feel though. I hate facebook as a whole. anyway, I sold my majora's mask gba a couple days ago on marketplace. I'm currently trying to sell my majora's mask n3ds xl for $450, since it has the box. I was going to sell it to my mom's old boss, but the box doesn't belong to my system (different serial numbers). good luck finding ones that match.

thanks. it was difficult to see it go, same as the psp and the vita, but I'd much rather sell it now before it fails at some point, like all electronics do.

I've had two of my eBay listings removed due to policy violations, specifically for counterfeit-related issues. I've noticed this happens when I include terms like "ModBo" or "mod" in the description. Since the listings are flagged by AI, I decided to use AI myself to rewrite the descriptions to avoid triggering these flags.

The updated descriptions now emphasize that the console is genuine and authentic, but heavily enhanced by me. They also make it clear that the modifications are intended to allow the console to play game backups. In my opinion, this is the primary reason for these enhancements—optical media tends to fail over time. As far as I'm concerned, if I own the original game disc, backing it up and using that backup is perfectly reasonable.

I've explored various listing strategies and understand the suggestions people have shared. However, I wanted to highlight that by using AI to counter AI, I was able to pinpoint the specific triggers for these flags. It makes sense to me now. My revised approach is to clearly state that the console is genuine, with modifications made to enhance the user experience, while maintaining its core functionality.

I am sure almost all of us have had to deal with this at some point. Just adding my worthless two cents!

Yeah, I figured you'd have to word it just so to make it around eBay. I haven't had that problem on Facebook marketplace.
