PS2 on BC PS3 CFW

I have a backwards compatible 60gb PS3 with CFW and i want to play my PS2 games that I've backed up.

How do i make sure I'm using the PS2 hardware and not full emulation?

if you use a disc (real or backup) it has to use the hardware. if you load iso it may use the software emu (ps2netemu) depending how you launch

The backup is on my usb (to pro long the life of the disc drive)

Which way do i need to launch to make sure it used the hardware and not the emulation?

Make sure to install a COBRA CFW. (ex: REBUG 4.86.1 LITE)
Just rip the PS2 games to your PS3 HDD (internal), place the ISO files to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/ and use a backup manager homebrew to mount the game as a disc then run it from there. By default it's going to use a "hardware emulation" to run the game.

You can't run PS2 games off of USB, you must copy them to internal HDD either via FTP or backup manager.

For example)

As far as I know, any method that mounts the games for the system to see as a disc, will use hardware. WebMan, ManaGunz, etc. The system doesn't know it's not a real disc. If you've converted to a PS2 classic, that's when it would use emulation.

Nope. Usually PS2 is region-locked, but as you're already circumventing that, it'll just play as a regular game.
