PS3 PS3 4012B fan noisy

I have a PS3 4012B slim model console. Its fan is very noisy, and it gives a high-temperature warning followed by an automatic shutdown after turning on. However, it's strange that when I reinstall the system and the progress bar appears, it doesn't shut down automatically. The high-temperature warning only pops up when entering the XMB system. I disassembled the motherboard and replaced the thermal paste with MX thermal compound, but it had no effect. I even asked ChatGPT, and it suggested that the problem might be with the PS3's temperature sensor. What should I do about this issue?"

If the case is (or at least the case vents are) clean, the fan is clean and unobstructed and spinning freely, and the thermal paste has been applied correctly, then yes the temperature sensor might be having a meltdown.

From what you say about the fan though, sounds like it might be going faulty. Does it spin smoothly 360 degrees when pushed by hand?

Thank you for your guidance and suggestions. My motherboard model is MPX-001. Can you tell me which SMD component is the temperature sensor? Should I replace it to solve this issue?"

Maybe it's the Southbridge that gets overheating. Place a good thermal pad on it so the heat could transfer to the aluminum shield.
Also, a syscon error dump can help you determine the fault more precisely.
