Ps3 8002f997 error

Do you know if you can you make patch pup version of HFW 4.84 for users on 4.83 OFW? So if a NoBD user is on a recent OFW they could use patch pups to get to 4.83 and then install 4.84 HFW patch pup?

A user could use patch pups by using a proxy to direct to a custom ps3-updatelist.txt that contains a link to the patch pups on local webserver.

I thought about it, but it will be very hard. due to patca_data.pkg

for now the only thing that can bypass Bd/Bt verification is patching LV1 with hex but doing that is CFW so only thing is to use Hardware flasher

True, but Joonie stated before that there is no Bd/Bt verification in patch pups, so if for example you was on 4.80 OFW with broken BD, you could install the 4.81 patch pup, then install the 4.82 patch pup, then use ps3xploit on 4.82 OFW to patch flash and install NoBD CFW, so if you did that you do not need any HW flasher to go from 4.80 OFW to 4.84 NoBD CFW.

and where is the diffrence between OFW 4.82 and HFW 4.84 ?? he can use web exploit of 4.84 cause no file has been touched just silk_web.sprx is of 4.82!
See my first comment to joonie and his reply.

The difference is: Using a patch pup he can not get to 4.84 HFW, he can only get to OFW. That is why 4.82 patch pup must be used to do this trick.

Remember , he must use a patch pup to avoid bd/bt check, so no HFW is possible.

Open your PS3 and make sure BD Drive is cabled up. I just asked what model of your PS3 you have.

There are only a few options

If your PS3 is not downgradable, your only solution is to fix your Bluray.
If your PS3 is downgrdable, you can either fix your bluray, or use a hardware flasher to downgrade and install noBD CFW.

I think my ps3 is not downgradable.

If your bluray is broken you can't reinstall OFW or HFW. How do you know if your bluray is broken? what model is your PS3?
I get the same problem code with my console (ps3 superslim) but Bluetooth and Bluray are working 100% and I installed OFW 4.82 without problem but when I want to install HFW 4.84.2 I get problem conde after 65% in checking. My USB Drive formatting FAT34 and the file of HFW in in the path PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.pup

You said you can't even install OFW 4.84 if this fails then I can't really help you any further.

No Dear..I really installed OFW 4.84 via internet and the system information of my console shows version is 4.84
but when I wanted to install HFW 4.84.2 I got 8002f997 error while copying data.

Updating via Internet won't be affected by BD Damage, if you try to install OFW 4.84 manually then fails then you have a hardware problem.

Not to be confused.

@Shadow789

If your BD is bad then there's no easy fix for this as BD module is on the motherboard itself and it requires replacement via soldering

@alijassim

Here's the check list (supposing your BD/BT are working 100% as you wrote earlier)

1. is the MD5 verified on PS3UPDAT.PUP ?
2. have you tried recovery mode ?
3. have you tried OFW 4.84 via recovery mode?
4. if everything fails try FAT16 formatted USB

Thank you for reply.. I changed USB Drive by another one and the problem solved.. thank you again

Ive patched my vsh.self so it looks to my custom ps3-updatelist.txt, i have been trying everything I can to get ps3 to install a patch pup instead of a full update, or even a full pup instead of a patch.

No luck so far.

I did discover you can put all the target IDs into one updatelist like this, not sure if that was known or not?

Code:
# ALL
