So I am the original owner of this machine I havent played it in years and I booted it up. It would only play Digital games and once in a while Blu Ray Discs, So I opened it up and cleaned the laser but this did not fix the issue.
Went online and ordered the disc assembly and installed it and the blu ray drive works great ( used same daughter board. )
Now I have a problem with certain games shutting the console off with a red blinking light.
I can play Last of Us, Uncharted 3 , ETC but when I try to play Castlevania Lords of Shadow or Ninja Gaiden it will load the game , take you to the menu but once you try to hit new game or load game as soon as the game engine has to load it shuts off.
I pulled the PS3 apart and replaced thermal paste with MX4 , I did not change heat pads ( was not aware at time, just basic PC guy. ) and got same result . Half games play and half do not.
I assume it has to do with power as Lords of shadow and Ninja gaiden are FPS unlocked vs Locked. IDK at this point.
I bought a new PS3 but I want to try to fix this one. I assume next step is to get into Sys Con.
I understand this may be YLOD and 65mm chip might be bad but If its anything else I would like to try to fix it .
