PS3 Ps3 - CECH-M03

It has to be a phat mainboard as well.

Compatible boards for your chassis: DIA-002 (CECHJ/K) VER-001(CECHL/P).

Note that for VER you'll have to swap the BD drive PCB as these use a smaller ribbon to connect the blu-ray drive than the DIA-002 mainboards. That, and VER have a slightly different built HDD cage too.

For DIA-002 it's just a straight swap of he mainboard and the BDROM PCB with the one supplied by the seller (if it is supplied - if not you'll have to remarry the drive yourself.)

Hello :)

for example from L (VER-001) to M
is not to clean to me what means swap the BD drive PCB ? today i didn't noticed a pcb for the bd reader.

but the motherboard should be flat and of the same size and have the same connectors where to plug the BD reader and hard drive case should fit in any case

sorry maybe could you explain what are the components i should swap with some picture ?

Whenever you buy one of those mainboards you'll get a smaller daughterboard with a BMD printed on them. That's the bluray drive PCB you'll have to swap over to your bluray unit.

Yes, that's the one that needs to be replaced on the bluray drive after you swap the PS3's mainboard.

BMD is the model of the bluray drive controller.

The reason you have to change that PCB with the one supplied from the seller is that each bluray drive is married to its own PS3 mobo.

I wouldn't bother changing the motherboard. I love repairing consoles and playing around with stuff too, but it's not as easy as it looks. If I was you, I would buy a hot air gun and try a reflow on CELL and RSX, and if it doesn't work, just get another PS3 for cheaper than your project with changing the MB will ever get. :cold:

While I do own a case swapped M03 (see above), it isn't worth reflowing a 90nm NOR board. I had luck and mine only had bad caps.

He's better off replacing his mainboard with a VER-001 or a DIA-002, still.

You are right, I just meant that for a PS3 mainboard with shipment he pays as much as for another PS3 console (at least from my perspective in my country) :ambivalence:

@Raidmax, that kiwi orange paint job looks really good. Reminds me of McLaren cars.
Thanks. I was inspired by Kiara Takanashi (Hololive EN)'s outfit colors:

Even its XMB theme is done as such. Other stuff done to it (besides the recap) is a 18 blade fan and custom set webMAN thermal control (max temp 71*C, lowest fan setting is now 32%). It runs PS2 games as well thru software emulation. Oh, and of course, new thermal paste - Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

The lower chrome trim is really because I had no black trims available that weren't snapped in half :highly amused:

There's an IRyS one as well (200GB CECHG04) though I have yet to set the lower fan speed to 30-32 on that one.

CECH-M03 is a DIA-001 Motherboard revision...don't debate me on this. IK the devwiki still says VER-001. But I dare anyone to prove that! DO IT!!!... which has the defective 90nm RSX in it. Your short YLOD looks exactly like the ones that were caused primarily by that issue.

You cannot use LED DIAG mode on any console except the 21xx - 30xx models. I have confirmed it doesn't work on phats.

You will have to use a UART adapter and get the errorlogs that way. But I can almost guarintee it has a 3034 (GPU issue presumably).
I bought I few untested PS3s from a local shop around me, and specifically asked for ones that said CECHJ or later, low and behold one of them turned out to be and M03, I was so certain someone just swapped a CECHH into a newer shell when seeing the DIA-001 and CXD2971 RSX, and now I'm reading this lol. Amazingly it still works fine, I had to delid the CPU though as it almost instantly overheated even with a good clean and new paste on the IHS. While I was at it I delidded the RSX since it was a 90nm and I wanted to make sure it was as cool as possible. Also installed CFW and of course Webman to keep temps in check. I plan on selling this one soon, and using the profits to fund the equipment necessary to Frankie my 3034 CECHA12!
