PS3HEN PS3 CECHB00 HEN3.0.1 CPU

Update again people. Now I have got 2 sets of CECHA06 and 1 set of CECHB00. The issue is :
Set 1 (CECHA06) - best of the best. Good condition and everything works.
Set 2 (CECHA06) - Blu-ray drive doesn't work. Put in games, DVD, CD, etc no response. Able to upgrade firmware.
Set 3 (CECHB00) - Blu-ray drive reads only Game disc. DVD, CD got no response.

Question. Will switch the drive from CECHH still allow me to have super audio CD abilities? Or... Any suggestions? Thanks.

Something to note about Ps3 BluRay drives is that PCB on the drive is married to the console. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just swapping the drives.
You would need to remove the working drive, remove the busted drive and then disassemble them both. Then you switch the PCBs (We call them DaughterBoards) and reassemble them. Then you can install your completed drive. BUT, both drives have to be the same model.
You can also use another drive with different daughterboard by triggering FSM (Factory Service Mode) and remarrying the new Daughterboard to the ps3.

As previously mentioned, your CECHB bluray drive more than likely has a busted red laser. If you fancy yourself as a good "tinkerer" you could go down the route of buying a replacement laser and dissasembling the bluray to replace it.

Whatever you decide, DON'T throw away the daughterboards. You will save yourself the extra remarry steps

Set 2 will more than likely need a new laser
Set 3 mayb the same but 1st try cleaning the lenses both on top and under it and see if theres any improvements as this can often help.

U can use a 5V source briefly on the lasers diodes pin outs to temporary see if the lasers both emits the blu-ray (violet) and dvd (Red) diode lights, Generally the red diode fails b4 the Blu-ray so this is common. Even if u see both diodes light up correctly sometimes they can still not read but u can at least rule them out 100% if u dont see any at all.

OK. I just ordered the replacement laser. Will do the operation in 2 weeks

Hi again. I got the 25v 47uf capacitor replaced and the Blu-ray drive is alive. Also reapplied thermal paste from generic to artic MX 4. No big change in temperature. TLOU @ 64, 64, fan @ 39%. Idle at 62, 64, fan @ 35 or 37%.
