PS3 PS3 fat help

Hi , I currently have a fat PS3 BC . The main issue is no hdmi ,av works perfectly. A local company had it for 4 months and allegedly change the hdmi chip. I managed to get it back from them and it now has more issues. Front power button doesn't work which I think I can sort .secondly it won't play PS2 games I just get a blank screen and need to reboot. PS1 games play ok . Dvd movies play ok so don't think it's the drive. It's currently running evilnat 4.92. What's the procedure for testing the hdmi chip . Cheers

You didn't actually mention whether HDMI is working now or not. If someone already worked on it and the issue is still there (or even worse than before), that's definitely not a good sign.

Regarding the PS2 games, which specific titles are you testing? It could be important, because some PS2 games were released on dual-layer DVDs or even CDs, and issues with reading those formats are quite common on PS3s with a slightly degraded laser.

If your disc drive has any reading issues, that can easily show up as black screens or failed boots in PS2 mode.

Also, if the games are from a different region than your console, and you're getting a black screen, try disabling upscaling in the system settings. On my CECHA00 I can only properly boot PAL PS2 games when upscaling is turned off.

Let me know if you managed to fix the front power button as well, sometimes it's just a matter of slightly bending the metal contact back into place.

Cheers for the reply .the hdmi is still not working. I've turned off the setting you mentioned and no difference. I've all 7 discs I have mainly buzz quiz game and splinter cell games also single sided backups. I'm going to open her up and gave a look at the switches and will probably stick a new lens in at same time. I'd just like the hdmi running again but 1 job at a time
