PS3 PS3 Firmware 4.92 - Update is Live!

I think it was abandoned after Flash Writer got ported to 4.90. In the first place the reason we needed either was because bgtoolset was unavailable for several months and people were bricking their PS3s with unofficial mirrors.
IIRC the dev planned to use it privately as part of a ps3 modding service. there is also a post shortly before his disappearance were he mentions going closed source due to bgtoolset being stolen. maybe he went a step further and stopped being a (public) ps3 developer altogether.

So basically he wanted to use the fact that bgtoolset was offline to charge money for modding and then disappeared once Flash Writer was ported to 4.91, making it possible to self-service mod again?
I seriously doubt anyone would've paid to get their consoles modded. First of all, we still had HEN, and also there was this Russian mirror, which bricked like 25% of consoles, but since a 2nd hand PS3 costs like $100 at most, even if you had to buy two, it'd probably still be cheaper than sending your console to a modding service, taking two-way shipping costs and taxes into account.

I was not aware of that or know of that.
i know we stopped hearing about the project and also seeing him about the time when we seen toolset officially return.

Yeah, a lot of people were desperate enough to try even dangerous things if they had some chance of succeeding.

I may add that the dev didn't release the tool because of the lack of testers with flash hardware tools available to use in case of a brick produced by the tool.

It's a shame because it was a tool that could be run on HEN, as a standalone app. We've even talked about making it super safe by switching to unused ROS bank first, make a backup, apply the patch on it, run the hash checks, and then reboot the console if successful or restore the backup. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to switch ROS banks.

How did we manage to test Flash Writer if there weren't people with hardware flashers?

Show us a screenshot of the download progress dialog pls.
Oh it's working now, idk why it was idle before.

Also is this correct patch so I can install the 4.92 cfw evilnat?

---- Post Merged ----

I have a new problem, did I need to disable custom syscalls before applying patch?

This happened and now it's frozen, I saw in reddit someone had the same problem? What do I do?

It can freeze for 2-3 minutes. Put your controller down and don't touch it until it's done.

It was frozen for nearly over an hour, apparently it can be fixed by reboot, also ftp won't work for some reason, my WebManMod is broken, but yeah keeps saying syscalls 8 is disabled or partially disabled when I try to enable ftp via cobra tools section.

I did everything correctly

Why are you trying to patch the flash, if you are already on CFW?
Oh didn't know i didnt need to do it again, can i install newest cfw from ps3 update or do i need to update from evilnat 4.92 cfw file?, also I cannot connect to ftp, it says syscalls 8 is disabled or partially disabled. I think it's because i can't sign into psn

I think I bricked my ps3, also I don't have a pc so I can't download cfw update on usb

I did this by accident.

Oh and my usb doesn't work on my phone anymore since last android update, connecter connected/disconnected problem.

So yeah I need to save up money to fix phone. Probably not the right place to post this but, yeah I was trying to use ftp and wireless update without usb as there was no pc or phone I could use

I had evilnat cfw Cex 4.91.

Well, it's bricked until you fix your phone or get any other way to write files to a USB disk. Should be recoverable when you do.
