PS3 PS3 freezes as soon as I click "Enable FTP" in Evilnat 4.89.3 with an external HDD attached

The PS3 froze after transferring the new xai_plugin PKG when using IRISMAN after closing it, so it's even worse now because it's freezing the PS3 and even after transferring a small PKG file and not just returning slowly to XMB and after transferring a big PKG file using IRISMAN.
You must have something wrong, HDD, hardware, plugins... it worked for me and @a.senna, it cannot freeze the PS3 so continued, I've just updated the way it loads the plugin nothing more. Do you have another HDD to test with it?

I was talking about the previous xai_plugin version obviously but even the new one freezes the PS3. Are you sure you're both trying with an external HDD connected to the PS3? I only have this internal HDD and I bought it in August 2021.

Why don't simply use FTP service in webMAN MOD?
Or FTP service in IRISMAN or in other backup managers?

That is how the community has been using FTP service on PS3 for years.
This new FTP server in Evilnat CFW is a new feature, and it hasn't been ironed yet to work in different scenarios.

For historic reasons, most backup managers include an FTP server which may cause conflict with other FTP services running in background.

Because they're slow when compared to IRISMAN's and I already use IRISMAN's.

But it should be ironed before being released.

I have issues if using IRISMAN only.

I uploaded a video showing enabling and disabling FTP with an external HDD with FAT32 and NTFS partitions. If you have another HDD I would try to test it to rule out problems with the one you have now

Unfortunately, I don't, but like I stated, if it's the HDD's fault, it's odd, since I only bought it in August 2021. Also, it may not be a hardware issue since you were both having issues with the previous xai_plugin version.

Because they're very slow when compating to IRISMAN's and I'm already used to IRISMAN.

Like I stated, if I click "Enable FTP", the PS3 immediatelly freezes, so I'm not even using Cobra's FTP server along IRISMAN's because the latter can't even be used in background.

I recommend you the following:
1- Forget about "Enable FTP". DO NOT use it.
2- Set IRISMAN to use port 2121 and webMAN MOD to use port 21 (or vice versa)
3- If you are on XMB, use port 21. It may be slower than IRISMAN, but accessible at any time.
4- For faster transfers, use IRISMAN with port 2121.

All the symptoms you mention make me think that the problem could be with the HDD (slowness, freezing...), it freezes loading ir playing a game?

Do what @aldostools told you, do not use xai's FTP and use IrisMAN

I don't even have webMAN MOD installed and I want to have IRISMAN's FTP transfer speed while on the XMB. Also, what about the issue I have when exiting IRISMAN?

No, it doesn't, but the previous version also froze in your case and in the other user's so it shouldn't be the HDD's fault, and besides, this HDD is recent.

The old version freezes randomly not always, the new version seems to be working now

Please use IrisMAN and forget about xai, check if works without freezing issues first

The new version doesn't work in my case and I still have the IRISMAN issue.

You can format HDD but instead original 4.89 when it asks you simply install Evilnat CFW4.89. PUP
Never put an original PUP in there after Jailbreak.

If it's a HDD problem, I guess I had bad luck when I bought it because it somehow came with issues or rapidly gained them.

EDIT: I think I still have the previous HDD, after all.

Enable where? on Irisman correct?

So the problem is on Irisman release, not fully compatible with 4.89.3 maybe thats why webman released another version for this CFW.

You are doing wrong
1-Enter on Irisman
2-press start button to get access to ftp page
3-click square to choose FTP port and click X after it
4-It will appear a message asking if you want to auto-enable ftp service on init
5-Say yes
6-Next transfer your files or do what you want BUT NEVER TOUCH on the FTP AGAIN to disable it or enable it
7-After you done just exit using the circle button or PS button to go to xmb.

Next time you boot irisman you dont need to enable FTP just use it to transfer the files because FTP will be automatically ON and when you leave IRISMAN the ftp will be disabled also automatically.

Do this and report back please

But like I told you, IRISMAN is very slow and even if I change its port, it still freezes. Openps3ftp's is even slower than IRISMAN.
