Hello, my PS3 has a short circuit as soon as the FFC cable from the usb, bluetooth board is connected to the motherboard. I dont know how i got here. I opened the ps3 and changed the thermal paste. Its a Fat CECHK04. Is this a common problem? I want to test the voltages on the motherboard but I don't know how.

Does it still short when you disconnect the cable? If so, it's the motherboard circuit, if not, it's the BT/WIFI module that's shorted.

That is a short circuit in the BT/WIFI module, look carefully at the filter capacitors you can see on the module and check if they have any cracks/burnt marks.

cant see anything

The quality of the image is hard to judge. The brown ones are filter capacitors, and usually one of them is damaged, causing the entire circuit to short-circuit.
Nope, everything looks normal to me. Is it possible to messure the board?

Now without leaking the schematics I would suggest replacing the whole module if getting a working BT/WIFI module is not expensive in your country.

Ok i ordered one, should arrive saturday. But how are you sure its the BT/WIFI module? Yeah the ps3 boots up if the cable is connected but not to the module. But what if its a part on the ps that defect?

If it is not connected, it can start. If it is connected, there will be a short circuit, then there are parts on the module that are damaged.

Ok it finalls works. But i hae to tell you something amazing. As soon as i put tze clip down for both ffc entries, the ps3 gets a short circut. Unclipping fixes it. NOW when i put the old board on and turn on the ps3, the ps3 lives. WHY. Before that nothing worked. Wtf is this problem??

maybe the secret is in the ribbon cable, but that's unlikely, usually you will see them with damaged contacts or something.

I am using the same cable as it needs
So you replaced it? Based on the results, I think it was the ribbon cable that was the problem.Since you disconnected it there is no short circuit, you tested the original BT modules and they work fine, and the only thing left is the ribbon cable.

For better understanding, here is the lore:
ffc cable broke>got new>short circut (without and with pressing down the holding thing)> New board> works> Tries again old board > works too.

I actually dont know... if its really the cable, ill just be frustrated.

Ok, I get it, but it also makes me more confused, I don't want to believe it's the ribbon cable problem because there are no electronics on it, and by process of elimination you removed the BT module and the console worked, which would put your attention on the suspected BT module, which makes sense.
