PS3 Slim CECH-20xx, CECH-21xx, CECH-25xx what's best?

CECH20** models were released in September 2009 and use the DYN-001 motherboard.

CECH21** models were not released until March 2010 and use the SUR-001 motherboard.

You should be looking at the PS3devwiki. This will tell you all you need to know about PS3's and has way more info about them than that wiki your looking at.

Also the first 2 number's in the model have nothing to do with region they were for, thats the last 2 numbers eg CECH2003A is a UK 120gb 1st gen slim. I have 2 of these PS3's.

CECH = whether is its retail or debug [DECH is debug]
20** = model
**03 = region [ 00 = Japan, 01 = USA, 15 = Canada, 03 = UK,
A/B/C = model variant, normally what size HDD it comes with stock.

This is for Slims and SuperSlims. For Phats is was slightly different.
Thanks, i will use this website moving forward. Such a shame i had to end up with the only slim board that still used the tokins!

I have 2 CECH2003A's, one I bought brand new in September 2009 and the other is second hand about 5 years later of something like that anyways, I have no issue's like people used to get with the older Phats. In fact both of them run just fine even after years of abuse. They are a lot more robust compared to the older Phats.

Thats reassuring! My 2002a is a launch day console (sept-09) as well. Bought it together with Tekken 6 and after YEARS of extreme abuse (long sessions) it has never really given me a problem (however i notice when i insert and removed BD discs, the operation is much slower compared to when it was new?) Still on original thermal paste too... i'm thinking i should at least re-do the paste but its kind of useless unless you de-lid and i am not confident in adding head to the chips in order to remove the lids!

Not necessarily, I have never de-lidded either of my 2, just repaste and have the fan set to a constant 36% speed and temps never go above 66*C when being really abused in high demand games.

But that would depend on ambient temps, where the console is and stuff like that etc to what temps your going to end up with with the way you have it setup.

I have never JB my slim, always ran on syscon it's entire life. Hopefully the standard temps on a slim are much lower than a phat

Well, atleast those unrare 25xx ones can still use hen.I have a 3000 with hen that I mainly use,and 2 fats with cfw I keep as spares.
