PS3 Slim 2501a

I recently got this console for $40, I cleaned the system out and applies a GOOD AMOUNT of thermal paste. System was overheating before this, once I did all the cleaning it still overheats and turnes off.CPU is overheating, the RSX is fine. CPU hits 80 as soon as I launch any game.

Any ideas on this? Will I have to possibly delid the CPU and RSX? Help would be much appreciated.

Also If I were to delid would Liquid metal work and help any?

just to make sure that you know, using too much paste is just as bad as using too little. the heat will not be able to move through the thick paste quickly enough.

i had one ps3 that had a very dirty power supply block. it was not allowing proper airflow. i had to open it up and clean it out as well.

I put on a nice coat of thermal paste, same amount I put on many other consoles without any issues. And I also opened and cleaned the PSU. I haven't had this specific issues before.

I did some more testing and the CPU is overheating, the RSX is fine staying below 70 in game. CPU jumps up to 80 quick

how well did you put it back together? lack of pressure does that as well, might be a good idea to take it apart and put it back together again just to be sure, at least make sure that the clamps are properly tight
