No it's the embedded one to the mobo & i tried putting a ps3 game in and it didn't want to read it
It's like the very 1st fat old backwards compatible ps3s
I'm sorry but it's like 1st BC console still doesn't tell us what console you have? I don't think there is any magic fix for you without responsibility in providing the correct information ? Step 1 threw whatever followed responsibly should get you where to diagnose your problems :sem imsorry: I feel like :sfun deadhorse:

Cache if im not mistaken
& I tried using a usb to install the ps3 update.pup firmware using a 32 gb USB hdd formatted fat32 with that file put in order like its supposed to be but it keeps popping up this & don't let me do anything else

Now an error did come up when I formatted to fat32 but then acted like nothing was up with it on my pc

DOOD! You refuse to listen what people have said already here.

First, you need to check the system storage, meaning it's internal hard drive (the one that is installed internally inside your PS3. not the one that you have formated fat32) to know if it is in working condition and installed properly. Then you can go through updating or whatever. Also, it's not update.pup but PS3UPDAT.PUP
But don't rush to install it. It's seems like you are in an intense chance of soft breaking that poor console.

Now, put that external hard drive away and try to identify your console model correctly.
Try to take some pictures of it and post it here so people can help you make it work again.

I think the problem was that he doesn't know that you CAN remove the internal hdd.

Yeah, his internal HDD is dead or removed. if dead it must be replaced first.

Parts of the firmware are stored & installed on the internal sata hdd, you can't just run it from usb an expect it to boot like a virtual machine, the dvd drive emulator might work somehow idk? i've never seen a portable ps3 pcb cut down.

K here's the pics I know I'm late on posting I'm sorry about that now as you see there's no hdd in the side slot the hdd that should load is the 80gbs I think that's install on the mobo right https://www.facebook.com/1656884602...4FxLdzjU59s6WVoVebDzCv6ddVA8xmeyfDAl/?app=fbl

Oh for real thought it came installed on to the mobo because I moved the files that I think was important from internal hdd space well memory so I need to install a hdd before attempting to installing xmb

You have 47 posts, which means you can attaching images to posts. Resize them to let's say max 1280x720 px, save as JPG and attach it post. Not everyone using Facebook, especially with his XSS's java scripts allowed. :P Also start using punctuation, humanity invented them few thousands years ago for a reasons.

And again... PS3 with embedded hard disk drive not existing... CECH-4xxxA have build-in eMMC which "emulates" HDD. All the rest have normal detachable SATA-150 HDD - and without it - console cannot boot to XMB etc.

The model is a CECHE01, without the HDD, the caddy and the HDD cover plate, that's why he couldn't (and most likely will never) install the FW nor do anything with it until he installs a new HDD, as told already.

People here asked him many, many times which console model had and didn't respond, not even giving clues about the shape or anything.

I will close this thread as we have reached 30+ posts of little to no value, and the answers for every question are in the forums (even with video tutorials).
